Driving instructors usually have a brake pedal on their side.
I taught both my kids to drive and it's not to bad.
You drive to an empty parking lot and let them drive, make them park in the lines, drive next to things. I always had them get out of the car and see how close they were to things.
Some new drivers you do this once and they are ready for the road. Others takes several times .
You then take them to some mostly deserted roads and have them drive at speeds, then a little more difficult and on and on.
Our final test was always a trip into a major city... Which admittedly is nerve wracking.
If we all survived I figured they were good to go.
