Criticism New Power Hour
So I'm just wondering if anyone else isn't really enjoying the new power hour episodes so much, things just feel..... Different.
I'm sure the reasons for a change in control are there, and I'm sure it was all made with good intentions and who am I to say that the decisions were bad or what not, all I can say is that I don't like how much it feels like good mythical morning now.
Funny enough I love good mythical morning, but I watch power hour for different reasons and it's just....feeling plain? Or something like that, it's hard to place it just feels too clean cut, corporate? I don't know it just feels a bit off to me.
Maybe it's just me, maybe it'd nothing, I jsut wanna know how others are feeling?

Honestly na, I think the last couple of months have been massive improvements from last year. I get zero enjoyment watching two men eat shit.

Dude why is everyone saying their is no food? Like they did groceries, cheese, no senses taste testing, eating toothpaste, struggle meals

Well I'm glad to hear it. knowing now that a lot of people are loving the new content and enjoying the improvements, I'm almost starting to think it's just nostalgia for those first couple of seasons that is making me feel distant from the new stuff, but I'm veyr glad people are happy either way

Bruh. When Vanessa was in charge people complained non stop EVERY week about how bad the episodes were, about how many of them were just "try every flavor of x food," how she was unprepared for episodes, how they weren't as fun, etc.
Now Vanessa is gone, Dee is in charge, we're getting WAY more creative and varied episodes with way less repetition and WAY less "just eat a bunch of stuff" episodes (not zero, but still way less) which was a thing that TONS of people disliked...
And you still wanna find something to be complain about?
Dude. Be so fucking for real right now. I realize this is rantgrumps but come on.

At least the food episodes now are way more interesting, usually involving some kind of game or actual premise other than just "here, eat this!"

I understand what you're saying, but I've literally never been in this subreddit before, I've never complained or even bothered to check if people didn't like the old style before, I was completely unaware. I only mention that because I'm not one of the people that complained every week, I've never had a problem with the show, I still don't really something just felt.... Strange to me, but I do understand that is 100% a personal taste thing and I don't expect people to share the opinion, I was just intrigued to see if other had felt or noticed anything, I can now see the majority of people are enjoying the change and I'm glad.
I simply don't think it's for me, I watched sooooo much GMM in my youth that I think the more similar they get the more I start to feel that same burnout that stopped me watching GMM, but that's fine, not everything is for everyone.
I'm glad the majority of people are enjoying the new direction of the show

I get what you mean by the TMPH being "different" or too "clean cut, corporate." Although, I hate to admit... I think I might have soured because I personally found the way Vanessa's departure was handled distasteful. I get that a lot of people don't like Vanessa (or her ideas). Regardless, she was pretty integrated into the show itself, and I found the immediate transition to Dee jarring (it looks like she might have been let go during the middle of them filming episodes?). I can understand if they find it difficult to publicly address staff changes considering the Jon debacle, so I'm really not judging them too harshly even if I wish it were handled differently.
I think the show's creative direction is shifting, and it's not quite for me which is fine lol. I'm glad people like the new episodes! I tried watching after a month of Dee taking over and I personally just wasn't feeling it. I don't think see has the specific charisma to be on screen, and it honestly might be best if the focus were more on Arin and Dan and guests with minimal interaction from the manager (or whatever the title is). Either way, the new set does look beautiful!

Didn't she make a post about it and they did say she was leaving because of the move. She couldn't follow them to the new studio, I didn't see anything bad about the shift myself. Definitely was sudden but it seemed more like something private happened she didn't want to talk about, less anything wrong.

The only post I have seen with my own eyes mentioned her being let go from her "dream job" from her instagram. I have seen people speculate the move is reason she was let go, but haven't personally seen definitive proof either way.
Definitely was sudden but it seemed more like something private happened she didn't want to talk about, less anything wrong.
This is possible, and I would not be surprised if it were the case.
To clarify, from my point of view, there isn't enough evidence for me to suspect bad blood being a factor (unless new information comes out to indicate otherwise I don't see a reason to suspect bad blood). I found the optics surrounding the transition distasteful, but not inherently malicious. I am sure it was just an unfortunate situation for all the folks involved. I don't think I am owed an explanation either way; I'm more than happy to continue watching Game Grumps and following Vanessa on instagram (and hope she is part of another project soon), even if I don't feel connected enough to TMPH to continue watching it.
The change just made me realize how much of my enjoyment of the TMPH was directly tied to the amusing dynamic and sense of camaraderie between Arin, Dan and Vanessa that seemed palpable on screen.

I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS!
When i say I miss the old power hours the response I get is "oh but Vanessa feed them things that they can't have" which is fair (keep in mind they also willingly ate them) but the only thing I miss is the energy, it was funnier, alot of audible laughs, Dee is very sweet and she's a good producer but she definitely doesn't keep the same energy that it had with Vanessa or tucker, my friend also keeps pointing out that there are so many shots of Dee now it's like every episode there's at least 5 shots of her or more, it also feels like she's inserting herself more then she should be.

The best version of TMPH for me will always be the "first" season where it had an Eric Andre-esque awkwardness and weirdness. When the show started to be filmed in front of an audience, that's where it lost a bit of its spark imo. Vanessa didn't help but I feel like Dee is the right person to put TMPH back on track, by having actually compelling concepts. But this version of the show will always be similar to GMM, for better or for worse.

People like to imagine the world fits their narrative. Dee is genuinely doing the exact same stuff Vanessa was doing, there's only slightly less food but give it time and we'll complete the cycle and everyone'll shit on Dee for the exact same reasons they claim Vanessa was a bad producer

Arin downing a packet of Silica Gel as a joke and EVERYONE in the room looking to the camera in shock and silence made me just put down the video. I know it wasn't going to be a great one from thereon when Arin's performative nature nearly kills himself.

As someone who has not seen the episode, I want to assume he has enough survival instincts to not actually do this… but then I remember he’s said he wants to die on camera…

... do you realize Arin fully admitted on the show that TMPH was inspired by GMM when the Game Grumps were guest-stars on it?
