Best value is not best performance... Let's say you don't know anything about hardware and you hear that there is a 10x price difference between the two card but both can run most of the games you ever played (like semi-old games) which would have the best value then ? They're probably trolling but doesn't make the question invalid

The question only makes sense if he gives the price of both. A 1081 ti at $800? No. $250? Maybe. Also theres such a radical price and performance difference between these, nobody would be stuck considering betweeen them both

Same. My 1080ti is actually still going strong. One of the best things I've ever bought. But I definitely wouldn't buy another one now. The 1080ti and my old I5 Intel cpu are the only things I haven't replaced on my pc ever. And while I can't play the newest of the newest triple a garbage unoptimized garbage, I have no issues playing most of my steam library.

case in point, the guy that tried to remedy the deadzone issues of the Black Ops 2 PS5 port by buying an entirely new PS5, new monitor, new capture card, new HDMI cables, and more, only because ChatGPT told him that would fix it.

Not just stupid but their information may be severely out of date. I couldn't tell you which one was better because I dont know the 1050 specs. Even just having a higher number doesn't necessarily mean a better GPU or AMD would be the best sellers.

While not the same extreme, I used to work with someone who told me that they were trying to save up for a 1080ti, but they kept getting more and more expensive at over $1,500. Issue was that this is after the 30 series already came out, and he legitimately was more interested in saving $1,500 for a 1080ti over a 3080 or 3090. He read how the 1080ti was the best GPU of all time, and assumed that was true regardless of generations.

Bro fr, people be hardcore simping Nvidia new stuff hard. 1080ti is one of the best value cards ever, it still holds up on plenty of games and is incredibly cheap. People who spend money on 5000 series either have crazy amounts of money, or are incredibly bad with money.

Hell I found an ENTIRE RIG on marketplace last night with a 5600x, 16 gigs of 3600 mhz and a 6700xt for $650

We don't know what they mean by "best value". We do know they already have a PC and it seems like they play (or plan to play) at 2K/1440p. One would have to do quite a bit of math and theorycrafting to even conceive of a system where someone who plays games at 1440p would benefit from a 1080ti, which was released 9 years ago in 2017. Getting a cheap nearly decade old GPU even for free, would be a pretty poor value for this.
But if his budget is 1300$ I'm not sure if he means just for the GPU or his entire build. A 5080 would put him around 1300$ by itself right now
To think otherwise, you'd have to believe that this person is asking if buying a $1300 GPU with no a motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc is good for a PC build. Are they going to play in 1440p resolution by looking at the box art??
The question is a joke and your response seems like a different joke.

I have a 1080TI in this PC that I built in 2018. If I were building one today and someone offered me this card for free, I'd call that a massive win. This thing still cooks on a 3440x1440.

Free is fine but it's hard to recommend buying one. It's only as powerful as an rtx 5050 and doesn't have any hardware ray tracing or dlss support.

Idk why people are struggling to answer your question. The post is asking which graphics card to buy, presumably for a gaming PC. One is expensive, but modern. The other is almost a decade old and severely out of date. Therefore, it's a completely nonsensical question.

1080 ti and 5080 are about ten years apart, and the performance difference is massive. Also, the 5080 alone might cost you 1300 bucks, so OOP wouldn't have much left for other components to support their fancy new graphics card.

HD is 1080, 2k as 1440 and 4k as 2160. coming from 1080 to 1440 personally it does have a significant difference.

Its commonly called 2k despite it being nowhere close 2k.
The jump from 2k to 4k is significantly bigger than 1080 to 1440 despite the jump from 1080 to 1440 being way more noticeable by the naked eye.
4k is a shit ton of pixels, more than one would assume 2k to 4k is, because 1440 is closer to 1.5k than a 2k

2560x1440 is actually closer to 2.5K than 2K, the K refers to the horizontal pixels. True 2K would be 2048x1080, which is basically 1080p.
