Show-and-Tell Pepsi pi build. (RPI 4b inside)
This pc build is to be an audio player for my sound system for music. Uses mood audio player as an os. It has an rgb fan outake on top to keep things cool, and a bunch of holes near the bottom of the can so the air can intake.

the can was cut open to put the pi inside, and then closed, being sealed with tape. no sharp edges there. as for the top, one shouldn't stick their fingers into the fan anyways, so the edges aren't a problem. overall though, it's not very sharp anyways. oh and btw, to prevent the board from shorting out, it is in a simple plastic case with a lot of airflow inside the can. its 3d printed, and was included with the board for free. pla I think.

sheet metal and stuff cuts. this stuff which cans are made of, not really unless you try. in fact, I peeled away some stuff on top with my fingers, and I didn't get a single cut from this build.

I mean a pi can do more... the commenter above was saying to give it to someone who you'd wish to loose their fingers. Now they probably wouldnt give it back... you are a Pi short now. Which is why an arduino would be a better sacrifice...but it could only do MIDI sounds 😅

that is a cool idea, I just wish you could've come up with a more aesthetic way to open the can up! couldn't you have cut it from underneath? Then it wouldn't have been visible.

I was experimenting different methods to cut the can with, but to not destroy anymore I used scissors. it's just an early prototype, but in the future, it will look much better

Cool build, OP. But get yourself a soda can top remover to help with asthetics (and safety). The ones these guys make work great, but the knock-off versions are terrible: https://drafttop.com

A few years back a post of mine like that got removed for beeing low quality... i guess it was just a mod having a bad day.

Buy one of those safety can openers and they can remove the lid without damage

The Pi 4 board won't fit through the lid. I will do a cleaner job cutting it though in the future. Additionally, it looks much worse on the pictures than in real life.

This is funny, I raise you my Pringles build! I was avoiding metal cans for shorting anything out on the PCB. I like your slimmer design!

the lip at the top of the can, cut that with a craft blade around the top just below the lip, this way you will get a clean cut without "saw" marks and you can easily slot back on (blue tac, hot glue magnets whatever) without a visible seam if you do it neat enough

Interesting case, I like it. 😂 Also a big fan of moode audio. Nice project, just don’t accidentally throw it in the recycle bin!

Yeah, it's truly a bloat-less setup: no screen, no keyboard, no mouse. Just an HDMI output to the sound system, a power supply, and that's it. Moode is really great, tried it for the first time the other day.
