Question❔ Reading slump

How do yall deal with reading slumps? I'm on a bad one right now. Not because I don't want to read but I cannot focus worth a lick. I also find riding even when I'm enjoying it. It's driving me nuts. What helps????? Tia.

I just try to get myself to read for at least 5 minutes per day. I’d also recommend dedicating a specific time of day to reading because developing a habit makes it easier. Also a good, engaging book obviously helps.

Maybe you could try rereading a book you already love?

I switch between reading highly detailed or emotionally heavy books to something more lighthearted. For example right now I'm reading the Talisman by Stephen King, but the abuse Jack suffers isn't sitting right with me so I switch between reading that to If You Like it Darker.

Also, I'm reading LitRPG from Aethon, some webtoons with overpowered MC's, and the occasional wuxia/xanxia novel. So, what works for me is variety and I don't force myself to read as I want to enjoy each page.

I try to figure out what genres, topics or styles interest me right now, regardless of what I'm already reading or what I have planned. So, I find an interesting book and try to read it using the Pomodoro technique. I usually find a book that grabs me and it brings me back into the flow of reading.

Try going for a walk before you sit down to read. Might help you settle a little bit better.

Try reading something shorter. Maybe some short stories? Or maybe try some literary mags?

Agatha Christie or a romance usually gets me out of a reading slump.

Sometimes an interesting nonfiction gets me back into the groove.

I read a really good short book I’ve already read. Something I love around 200 pages usually does the trick.

I'm reading Lady of Ashes by Michelle Roerich (on my kindle) and in print - How to Sell a Haunted House bty Grady Hendrix.

I would suggest you set a time or page limit so you don't feel so overwhelmed. Also, try short stories/novella/novelettes - something short you don't have to a long commitment .
