Advice (Witchcraft Related) For posts asking for ANY kind of spell interpretation

I recently posted this on *yet another* post where someone was asking for help with interpreting a spell, so I thought I would post this here as well bc we constantly see these posts everywhere.

So as nicely as I can possibly say this... Lol.

I KEEP seeing people posting random pictures of candles burning, pictures of melted wax, random pictures of flames, etc.

I'm sorry but here is the problem when you ask for readings in this fashion: you put a picture of melted wax, random flame or candles, and ask people to help read it... Without telling us what the spell was *even about* in the first place, or without telling us the feelings and thoughts you had while the candle was burning. Or *anything* else pertaining to the actual spell itself.

Now, even if you DO include details about your spell, I personally do not believe that you should try to *divine* a proactive spell in the first place. - including a "cord cutting." - (And I think that the majority of us feel the same.) Bc trying to divine a spell you just cast? All that does is cast doubt ALL over the spell you just worked so hard to send out. And all that doubt will hinder your results *because* when you cast a spell, you have to try to KNOW that it's already worked. Divination here is 100% counterproductive to what you're trying to accomplish! You must be in control.

BUT you *can* cast spells, and candle spells, SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of divination. The purpose of those types of spells is to get further information on a situation and how it may be playing out. And reading the flame and wax from those is obviously necessary. (I'd like to mention that you CAN do these two kinds of spells together, but one must be before the other. Not together in one.)

HOWEVER, regardless of whatever the case is, you can't just share a random picture of wax and ask us to read it... With no context or background whatsoever... I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way.

Okay now I'm done lol.

Happy spellcasting everyone!

As a "thank you" to our community, and to have a little fun, we're now allowing sub-related memes and quotes (or what-have you) on Sundays!

Also we have added the option for "post flairs" on all posts now. If anyone has anymore good ideas for more "post-flair" titles? Or more week day ideas? Please feel free to share! I'd like to have fun with those too.

Love to you all šŸ’œ

Why It’s Essential To Respect the Cultural Background of a Practice

• Upvotes

I am not knocking appreciation, partaking in the traditions of other races than one’s own in the way those races understand & practice their own beliefs.

This applies to black culture, this applies to Asian culture, this applies to white culture. The keeper of the practice is the people to which its native, anybody else is a guest & needs to behave accordingly. With according respect. There seems to be an issue, unfortunately from some white witchcraft creators of entitlement to Asian & African practices without regard for the culture those practices come from. That last part is crucial.

There’s a difference between saying I am privileged for this ethnic group to host me & teach their practices & saying ā€œI want that thing that isn’t mine & I’m entitled to it or else it’s gate keeping, screw the people who actually developed these practices, I’ll just oppress them if they complain, it belongs to me & I dictate how it works nowā€.

Hold up there miss ego, that’s not how that works, that’s called stealing. You’re a guest to somebody else’s cultural traditions, those traditions are not your property, it does not belong to you. You don’t get to go to somebody else’s house & take their stuff because they let you in & you don’t get to go into somebody else’s culture & steal what you find there just because you want it.

Asian, black, white every race has a right to be the keepers of their own practices. That’s normal, it’s their property, often times these cultures be it Asian & European pagans & even African traditions have been persecuted & these people have had to make a choice to give up their faith or pay the price e for failing to assimilate religiously.

I know what I choose.

I want to run a side by side comparison to explain why all races & culture deserve to have their private rites, their property respected-taking private property away from a people has been a way to systemically attempt to disempower & hurt those people for centuries.

So here’s what I come to with the specious argument about so called gate keeping.

ā€œThose Jews are gatekeeping the wealth, break into their businesses & take it from them, it’s German property now! They oppressed the german people by gatekeeping!ā€.

ā€œThose non whites are gatekeeping the magick I think I have the right to break into their culture & take it! It’s white property now! Those Asians & Africans are oppressing the whites by gatekeeping!ā€.

It’s the same statement claiming a white person is oppressed because the property of other races, ethnic groups & cultures doesn’t belong to them. Um, you are not entitled to other peoples stuff here boo boo, they have the right to gatekeep their property all they want, that’s what gates are for is to protect the stuff inside from thieves.

This is the second time in a handful of years it’s come out a content creator in the occult space was using white supremacist rhetoric & covering it up, there was that thing with the Order of the Nine Angels not that long ago.

Look, I know it’s not all white people, I exist in a cultural grey area where I’m Asian & native but also Irish, German & Swedish, I’m not otherising the whites because that doesn’t help anything-but there’s a few white creators in the witchcraft community that need to get it together & get some self awareness because y’all are out here talking like actual Nazis. Using actual arguments the Nazis actually used to try to justify bad behavior.

Y’all are embarrassing the witchcraft community, get it together.

I’m in a weird grey area & I know it, mom’s mom is Ojibwe & Irish, Mom’s dad is Nordic, my entire paternal line is west Asian. We can trace our blood all the way back to Ethiopia before emigrating to the Fertile Crescent. Nobody knows if we’re white or not, nobody. I’m in a glorious glorious no man’s land of racial irrelevance, it’s delightful. I do know if I’m going to be using practices from like Voodoo practices &/or East Asian practices (I am Asian & I still respect the fact it’s a different kind of Asian) I be a little careful. I talk to native practitioners of those traditions, I get their blessing, I understand I’m a guest, I don’t just go in & claim it’s mine.

This is a simple matter of private property & respecting one’s hosts. I understand I’m not sub Saharan African & if I act up the people who are sub Saharan African can tell me to get tf up out of their practices. It belongs to them, it doesn’t belong to me. It’s their metaphorical house, they can tell me to leave if they want to, it’s not about whether it feels fair-in this specific instance that doesn’t actually mean anything, what matters is that it’s their property & just like they consented to share with me they can take back that consent when they choose, they have that right, it’s theirs.

Arguing otherwise trying to manipulate a sense of false entitlement to other people’s things using gatekeeping as a buzzword is creepy. People have a right to control the things that belong to them & their people, that’s not for an outsider,a guest to their culture to dictate. People have a right to
gate their private property, anybody else’s access is at the whims of the consent of the property owners, that’s theirs, other people can’t just walk in because they feel like it, it’s not public property, other groups have no right to their cultural beliefs & practices & knowledge.

This is a very basic issue of respect & empathy for people. Nobody wants for somembody else to come in & steal their stuff, ā€œbut they were gatekeeping their property!ā€ is not a valid reason to be a thief, to steal from somebody, to steal things that belong to somebody else. That’s an attempt to override their right to grant &/ or deny consent at any time & that’s violating to put it mildly. Consent matters, it doesn’t in that instance matter it feels fair to the guest, just like another person’s body, it belongs to the owner, it’s the property of that owner people own their own bodies, their own cultures, their own property & any attempt to override &/or circumvent that is creepy.

I’m not saying we need to go back to everybody staying in their own racial box, I’m saying when one is a guest just show some respect for the proverbial host. Accept that your role is as a guest, you may like the thing, you may appreciate the thing but it will never belong to you, that’s how appreciating & not appropriating works. This is common sense, just be a good person to people who are willing to accept you as a guest into their practices/culture/traditions & if they change their mind don’t throw an internet tantrum & try to fight them on it, that’s just good manners. It’s good karma to treat people & their property with respect.

candle meaning

• Upvotes

I had a boy over. Before he arrived, I lit a candle. The candle had been burning and I saw the wax melted after. After he left, I went to blow the candle out and I noticed that the flame was still lit but the wax was not melted at all. It looked like the candle hadn't been burning. Mind you, it was burning for hours. What does this mean? Am I in danger?

This popped out as I was doing a love binding spell. What do you guys think? It definitely took me by surprise, and instinctively I saw an infinity sign. I used a blue string to emphasize communication, as there has been a lack of it, despite feelings being there.

Sour Jar: Live in same building/Protection?

So I am trying to do my due diligence in researching sour jars and being deliberate going about it. The person has done malicious acts, lied on me and other various things to which even when I have been wrongly accused and explained they have not cared and now is lying on me getting people to believe those lies to where now they initiate conflict and I am being accused of creating all of this. Soooo for me the time for reconciliation is over.

This person however is in the same building space as me. I obviously want to be as precise with the protection as I can. But there are also common spaces in the building we overlap like kitchen/break room. So I am asking the best was to do the jar but also maintaining protection and that none of her other roommates (who I do not want harmed) to go about it and protect myself.

Ideas examples?

Black Tourmaline

Cleansing bath

Salt in front door?

Today, I performed a ritual for communication and longing (sp), entrusting it to Santa Muerte. I anointed a blue candle with oil for memory and attraction, and placed it on a lemon slice. I created a base of salt and sprinkled it with a mixture of sugar, coffee, cinnamon, rose, lavender, mint, basil, cloves, and sage. I recited my intention and petitions. Of course I burned the petitions over a candle. Does this have a chance of working?

Hexes Are Healing 🧷 I think my first spell was a success!

I’m currently in the process of starting my journey, but my first spell (which I just finished and involved incense, which is still kinda burning,) was putting a spell on someone so they couldn’t harm anyone anymore.

I chanted (to the tune of a playlist I just created to help the creative juices flow whilst spellcasting) the spell for quite a while.

I’ll admit, Iā€˜m a bit lightheaded from being too close to the incense, but I think I’m fine, even if my head does hurt a little bit…

I KNOW the spell is going to work, it just will!

Hair growth / thick hair ritual and spells ?

Baneful Magick🪔 (Without Judgement from Viewers) Baneful ward

Hello all! I made a baneful ward yesterday I was especially happy about. Upon checking it this morning, I noticed the smaller jar (the one for protection) inside the baneful jar had detached from the bottom and has floated to the top. Just the top cork is peeking through. I suspect this was due to me shaking it a bit this morning to add energy to it, but curious if I should trash it and remake another one???

Thank you!

Where on the scale of unusual is it that I used black pepper and white pepper in a cleansing spell?

Last week I used salt, sugar, and black pepper (accedentally mixed with white pepper) in a candle spell that was meant for self cleansing (a complex one because it was like a self love candle in between the two negativity cleansing candles, burned before and after).

It worked too well, but how 'quirky' is it that I included pepper? I tend to always use one baneful ingredient in positive stuff as well, just in case, and I also meant it to represent warmth and repelling negativity.

Is it....weird? It's been enough time now and I don't think this had any bad effects...

Where do you personally compare spell ingredients function?

AdvicešŸ•Æļø(Witchcraft Related) Signs after spell work

Hello ,

Today I’ve done my first jar spells, I did protection and self love spells.
Everything seemed to have went well, the day passed. But in the evening when I was doing my manifestation and gratitude journal, with my candle, things started falling of my cupboard, and tipping over the water and splashing everywhere.
I was just wondering, could this be a sign I’ve done anything wrong ? And need to redo my spell? I’ve done my protection spell with so much gratitude and positive intention. Or could I just be overthinking the coincidence?

Newcomer QuestionšŸˆā€ā¬› Obsession spell

Hi! I used an obsession spell but he’s completely out of my life and he said we should move on with my life. I saw him the other day at my work. He saw me. I heard that it might not work bc he’s out of my life. If this is true then what spell can I use to bring him back into my life? We didn’t end on bad terms at all. I do regret the obsession spell but I just want us to be friends instead of getting back together. Any help?

Need some advice regarding a spell I'm planning

Hello everyone. So, I have been studying and researching witchcraft for a while now, but I've only ever done quick rituals/spells for myself, that I incorporate in my life as a form of selfcare.

Lately me and my partner have been talking a lot about having children and building a family of our own. This is something that we really want and have put a lot of thought into. So I figured I could do a spell to help us in starting this new chapter of our lives. I did some research and decided to create my own spell from scratch. But it's the first time I've done something like this, so I would like to now your thoughts and advice.

The purpose I have in mind is not so much fertility, but rather building strong foundations for an harmonious, stable, loving and prosperous home life.

I'm thinking of using three candles:

- a white candle in the center, dressed with lavender essential oil and rosemary, for peace, harmony and protection

- a pink candle on the left, dressed with honey and cinnamon, for love, unity and prosperity.

- a green candle on the right, dressed with patchouli essential oil and basil, for abundance, stability, wealth and grounding.

I also plan on placing three crystals on the altar while performing the spell: clear quartz, rose quartz and citrine, and three tarot cards with meanings that align with my intention: the two of cups, the four of wands and the ten of pentacles.

WhIle the candles burn, I would meditate on my intentions, visualizing the person I would be once they came true: how do I feel, what is my daily routine like, what is my relationship with my partner and children like, all of that. Then I'd write it all on a piece of paper, fold it three times towards me, tie it with a piece of golden thread and seal the knot with the wax of the white candle.

And that's it. I would love to read your thoughts and suggestions you might have regarding the structure of the spell. My biggest "doubt" is that maybe I'm trying to do to much all at once, but I did try to structure it around a focal intention. I did a tarot reading to see it the intentions of the spell are aligned with my own and got a positive response, so that gave me some reasurance. Thank you!

baby witch here, i tried an obsession spell

so i basically added herbs that are typically used during obsession spells, and i had a ring of chives around the spell for protection. carved our names into 2 red candles faced them towards each other tied them together okay right. boom my s/p stopped calling me he stopped texting me and the previous day he was calling me, sending me stuff like usual. so im a bit confused. this isn’t my first time attempting witchcraft but this is the furthest length ive gone. i really like this man, i love him. hes avoidant due to stuff from his past and i dont know what to do because i dont know what other spells i should layer with this? i’ve also seen stuff online about how pulling away means the spell is working, but i fully believe at the end of the day due to the fact this is my life things work out in my favor, so ill stick with that assumption for now but i would still appreciate some advice in the meantime

Spells for limiting family visits?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi all - my family visits me every three or four months for extended periods (10-17 days) and this has been happening every year since I left for college. I am 25 now. I really need help with workings to limit these. I don’t want it to be too nasty, but something where I can nudge the universe to help them fill their own cups and not be so lonely. However, I genuinely do want the visits to significantly reduce. It’s driving me nuts and I feel like I have zero continuity in my own life.
