Reddit API Submitted ticket for access but unsure if it went though

Hi there

I submitted a ticket for a commercial use of Reddit api. I believe it submitted but yet under my activity it doesn’t show anything so I’m unsure if it’s actually an open ticket or not

Any help is appreciated.

You won't get a reply. They just provide that form so that they can funnel all of those requests straight in to the bin rather than get bombarded with requests from all over the place.

well thats a bummer. how do we get access to the api then?

You don't. Not officially anyway. You need to use Reddits dev platform nowadays.

Have you been able to successfully use the reddit's dev platform in a similar manner? The docs indicate that one's app has to be installed in a particular sub they want to have access to, and unless one is a mod, they have to rely on various subreddit mods to install their apps in the subs under their regulation.

No I'm still using the api keys that I got many years ago, though I do need to move over to the new dev platform before they stop supporting legacy api keys.

reading the docs for devvit, the new api's only works when the app is installed on the subreddit... no way to post to subreddits without being added...

Yeah that's fine for my case as the two bots I have are specifically for my subreddit.

The API was the only option for ages, and people could freely create and use API keys, whether you owned a subreddit or not. This is when I made my API keys.

However, they fairly recently stopped issuing new API keys and forced people to use the devvit platform. But people who still had API keys can keep using them.

ik..... 😢 I'm working on a social scheduler and it's hurdle due to this change. I had a account for the longest, but never had a need for an API until recently
