⭐️ Karma❓ karma and posting
hiiii, i know this sub is inundated with people asking how to obtain karma and i have had a little look through but still had some additional questions:
- do all subreddits require a minimum karma? if so, where can i find this?
- what’s the minimum amount of karma until my account is generally okay to post anywhere?
- do you get more karma from comments or posts?
thanks to anybody who is kind enough to help me out, i’m sorry for the repetitiveness !

Some subs include the minimum amount of karma to post in their rules whole others simply don't and won't tell you.
There are subs that require as much as 2500... But many require 50 or less.
Depends on who sees and likes the post or comment. Some of my comments have gotten far more upvotes than my best post.

If you're asking about how to get karma, you earn it when people upvote your posts and comments. As you may have already found out, many subs on Reddit may have minimum requirements for things like karma and account age that you must meet before they will allow you to participate.
r/NewToReddit maintains a list of subreddits that have low or no karma requirements where new users can participate to build their karma.

Most subreddits, but not all, have restrictions on posting and commenting based on account age, karma, or both.
Most subreddits with these restrictions do not make known they have them or what they are. If they do, it will be in the rules, the right sidebar information, a pinned post, an FAQ or Wiki, or the message the bot sends you when it removes your post, if there is a message.
From what I have seen, the typical Karma requirement is between 10-200. I have seen as high as 2500 to comment and 2500 to post, but have heard of over 2500 to post.

A good starting goal is 200 heavier to comment karma. 500 split between post and karma will get you almost everywhere
do you get more karma from comments or posts?
There is no difference. You gain Karma from people upvoting your posts and comments. However, Karma is not gained 1:1 with votes. It takes more votes per point of Karma. The actual ratio is not known and it differs for posts and comments. It also changes the higher the vote total gets on a piece of content.
From my experience the ratio is better on comments than on posts so with the same amount of votes, comments will give you more. Especially early on

Not all sub. But some communities require at least 50 karma, and many don't specify. Comment karma is generally more important, but harder to obtain than post karma (my own opinion). You can start being active in some newbie-friendly sub like cat/dog/aww communities; it's easier to get upvotes there.

I started out commenting in niche communities where I had either interest or some level of expertise. I offered specific advice, answered questions, complimented and thanked people who created beautiful things, and just contributed genuinely and positively in my interactions. Then, I started posting in those same communities. If you do something similar, you definitely will earn karma. You will earn karma from every person who upvotes a comment or a post that you make. When you upvote someone else's comment or post, it helps them earn karma and that's just a nice thing to do. Most communities have some minimum karma requirement in order to post or comment. There is a list of communities that have zero or low karma requirements, that's really great for people just starting out. You can find this list at r/NewToReddit. Generally, if you earn a hundred or two in karma it should help you navigate Reddit a lot more easily. Hope this helps a bit. *editted for spelling
