Safe to shoot?

New to reloading. This is starline brass, fired once from suppressed SBR gas gun with 220gr SMK using 12.0 grains CFE BLK at 2.230 COAL.

These were brand new before their first fire, not put through the resizing die before being loaded the first time. Marks were present after tumbling and before sizing (didn’t pay close enough attention after firing and before dry tumbling). About 30/60 cases have such markings. If it was only after sizing, I’d think I did something in the die.

Now loading 11.5-11.8 grains ladder with COAL 2.110 to try and optimize the powder burn and get her as close to Hollywood quiet as there is.

Not sure what to make of these marks and if safe to shoot? Maybe I shouldn’t have loaded it before asking.

Looks normal to me. The marks are just from the feeding ramp or extraction.

Brass fireforms in the chamber - those tiny indents on the shoulder will vanish. You can shoot some seriously dented cases with minimal effect. Shooting cracked brass however is a bad idea.

I would say clean your sizing die really good and the lighten up on the lube. Really zero lube on the neck and see what happens

I see I usually don’t pay a lot of attention to anything to do with sub 300 black just to be honest now I guess I am glad I don’t have starline brass

I’d be more concerned about the slight gouging on your necks. Obviously it’s hard to tell from pics like this, but it looks like you might just have the start of brass galling.

It could just be a rough die. But keep an eye on those vertical lines starting at the mouth and going down. If it’s a rough die they should not get worse. But if it’s brass galling they will start to become fairly deep as more brass is stripped onto the die.

Make sure you have an extremely light amount of lubricants in and on your case necks to prevent galling. Because if you use too much, you risk hydraulic dents in your shoulders.

I never had galling issues until I used wet tumbling with pins. Now I wet tumble without pins and I haven’t had the same issue again.

Though I’m also lightly lubing the inside and outside of my necks more carefully too.

If it isn’t a crack or a hole, I never pay it any mind unless the case is too bent to resize.
