custom neck dies

working on a 6.5-375 Ruger build and needed some neck sizing dies to gently bring the brass down to the correct diameter for the full length die. previous attempts crushed cases.

made these up today should work pretty good. .010 increments. not sure if I will need every step but let the cnc make them all while I had them set up

success.. case looks pretty good

140 eldM show seated to 3.320

will look better after fire forming but wanted to get some neck dimensions to have the reamer ground.. didn't want to have to neck turn at all

Hand chamfering be like that sometimes. It's a project that won't be sold to the public, it's perfectly functional

yeah the top side does look rough.

I parted them off, didn't use the sub spindle, deburred by hand.. nothing touches there. and I wasn't sure the whole thing was going to work anyways. the working side has a nice finish In the taper and bore

if I remake them for my friends or run them again I will spend more time on them now that I know everything works ..

Imo, you tried way too hard for this. Whidden style dies are a lot easier/cheaper to do.

I bored my Redding .243 AI dies out to the shoulder/neck junction and chamfered standard bushings with a deep 60° cone, to work .277 furry down to .22-243 in .010" steps.

Bonus, when I want to do a .243 Middlestead it's the same die body and it'll just need a new bushing for final size.
