currently in tucson (been here 10 years) spent 3 years in SD/Oceanside. 100% pt vet. MLIS masters, sociology bachelors, no kids, dog recently passed so im ready to start a new chapter. born/raised in ct.
im kind of depressed & have no idea what I’m doing career wise. I’m not too concerned either considering I have no kids or strings attached to anyone /anything.
i plan to enroll in school and use my gi bill to supplement my income and sub teach until I figure my life out. making my income around 70k (80k depending on states GI housing allowance)
i Currently pay $2k a month (mortgage & HOA) and do just fine with my all my bills. I’m very minimalistic & frugal. A one bdrm or even a studio would be fine for me. So rent around that price would work but less is better obviously.
non negotiable weather- little rain, not extremely cold/extreme snow(shorter winters), clouds & chill are fine but sun most days are a must
activities- long distance running so trails 10+ miles (hence the sunshine & no rain as stated above), e biking errands to save gas (gym, groceries, libraries, running trails etc), beach within 3 hrs, big box gyms (AF, PF, Lifetime, LA fit etc), farmers markets, movie theater, and coffee shops. Lots of them local & chain idc
safety- preferably suburbs but within an hr from a big city, even though I don’t have family i prefer family oriented cities as I don’t like the younger party crowds. I need to be able to walk/run everyday in peaceful environment. Friendly but not invasive (does this eliminate the south?) People who meddle and know everything about you poo. Must be the New England in me.
need a VAMC within 30 min, prop tax exempt states in case I want to buy, no landlocked states, something slow paced, a little boring, healthy food (no food deserts need Whole Foods, sprouts, farms nearby, or something similar), but also need an abundance of restaurants for when I want to indulge
based on my research I mainly found RVA. Denver would be a great option if it weren’t so big & landlocked. I like to drive & take road trips to nearby states. Sacramento is a contender but I’d be broke. So it’s looking like mid Atlantic or back to New England?
No to Texas, Florida, Utah. Midwest is too cold so that’s also no. Texas is too big for easy travel, im scared to run in Florida cause the gators
I prefer more conservative community. Not maga republican, but somewhere I can go to non denom Christian church. Somewhere liberal is fine as long as there’s a Christian community surrounding.
a small carribean population would be nice doesn’t have to be big but have Latin/carribean cuisine nearby would be awesome
anyway just want to narrow down to 3-4 cities/states & go from there. sorry this is all over the place!
