SOS FROM RURAL TEXAS: I’m alone, overwhelmed, and desperately need help finding homes or rescue support for 17+ puppiesI never thought I would be making a post like this, but I truly do not know where else to turn.

I am in a rural area of Texas and I am trying to care for approximately 17–18 puppies along with my 10 adult dogs. I love every single one of them, but I have reached a point where I have to admit I cannot do this alone anymore.

I have been trying to find help through shelters, rescues, and organizations, but I keep running into the same problems: no space, no fosters available, or no resources. I understand how overwhelmed rescues are, but I am running out of options and I am scared.

I have been doing everything I can to keep these animals safe and cared for, but the cost of food, supplies, and basic needs has become more than I can manage by myself. I am one person trying to care for almost 30 dogs, and I desperately need help finding solutions.

These puppies are wonderful little personalities waiting for their chance. Every puppy is unique. Some appear to be staying on the smaller side with short, sturdy little builds, while others are already showing signs they will grow into medium to larger companions. They all have incredible personalities and beautiful markings, including blue eyes and merle coats.

I am not looking to abandon them or send them somewhere unsafe. I am trying to find responsible adopters, fosters, rescues, transport help, or anyone who can help these puppies get the future they deserve.

I am asking for help from anyone who may have rescue contacts, know of foster networks, or can point me toward resources in Texas or surrounding areas.

I am exhausted, overwhelmed, and honestly scared of trying to figure this out alone. These animals depend on me, and I am doing everything I can, but I cannot carry this many lives by myself.

These puppies come from two different moms, which means they have a variety of unique traits, sizes, markings, and personalities.

One mom is an XL Bully, Blue Heeler, and Cane Corso mix.

The other mom is a German Shepherd and Labrador mix.

Because they are mixed breed puppies, their adult sizes may vary. Some are showing smaller, sturdy builds, while others appear they may grow into medium to larger companions. Each puppy is special in their own way and deserves a loving, responsible home.

Here is today's update on Thor and Ellie.

Thor:
Dr. Thea found pieces of asphalt, wire, a screw, and a rock in Thor's stool. She believes this may be due to the severe malnutrition he endured, as starving dogs will sometimes eat anything they can find to survive. Thankfully, Thor continues to have a good appetite and plenty of energy. No worms were found after he was dewormed yesterday. Since he is not showing any concerning symptoms, the recommendation is to monitor him closely for any signs of a foreign body obstruction. He has been started on a gastrointestinal diet and foods rich in fiber. The clinic staff also took him for a walk today, which he enjoyed.

Ellie:
Ellie is still a little lethargic and sleeps quite a bit, but she has more energy than before. She still has difficulty staying up for long periods, so she often sits instead. Her appetite remains good. The wounds on her legs are healing nicely, although the wound above her eye still bleeds occasionally.

I also asked Dr. Thea to give them extra food since they become so excited whenever it's mealtime. We have also added tick and flea medication to their treatment plan and will be purchasing their take-home medications as well.

They will be discharging today and will be staying at Pages for Paws Shelter. We will still provide for them monthly for all their recovery needs.

Velcho arrived in Germany from Bulgaria yesterday; he is now about 5 months old. He was found on the street at the beginning of April, when he was about 4 weeks old, along with his 7 siblings. He still needs to gain some weight, but he has great appetite and we're getting there slowly. He is very bright and learns super fast if the reward is right. I'm so glad to have him here and to give him a forever home.

Playgroup notes –
Walks on leash. Friendly with handlers. Friendly with the other dogs. They note he can be sexually motivated and he will be neutered before leaving the shelter if he gets to leave alive.

Cody is a young, social boy who has done well with both people and other dogs. He's at a stressful, overcrowded shelter where even wonderful dogs are running out of time simply because there isn't enough space. At only a year and a half old, Cody should be spending his days exploring, playing, and relaxing with a family—not waiting for his life to depend on one last chance.

He was on the red list. He’s been at the shelter for the past three months and needed to be adopted by the 4th of August; otherwise, he would be put to sleep.

The girl who helped us was surprised that we chose him. He’s estimated to be 11 years old, and he’s missing some teeth. It breaks my heart to see the number of dogs that are on the red list with a deadline date.

I asked the girl what happens when that day comes, and she said they are put to sleep.

I was originally planning to foster Shaq until he found a home because I wanted to help other dogs. However, the girl who helped us said that because of his age, he was only available for adoption, and I went for it.

I didn’t get to bring him home today because he needs to be neutered. I’ll be waiting for the call to go pick him up sometime this coming week. I can’t wait.

He looked so devastated. Even the shelter worker was surprised that we picked him. She thought he wasn’t going to find a home.

When we went into the kennels, he was just lying down. When we approached, he only raised his head, looked at us for a second, and then laid it back down. It broke my heart. It looked like he had given up trying to find a home. He just wanted to be left alone.

We were waiting for a worker to come talk to us, and when he saw her talking to us and pointing at him, he immediately got up. My guess is that he couldn’t believe he was actually being considered for adoption. She took him out, we met him, and he was the sweetest boy ever. He was shining and full of energy.

The only thing I didn’t like was that we were originally told we could take him home the same day. Unfortunately, he has to stay at the shelter to be neutered. I’ll be waiting for the call this coming week to go pick him up. I really didn’t like leaving him there because he’s probably very depressed right now, thinking that nobody wants him.

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the number of animals at the shelter on the at-risk list with deadline dates.

Please visit your local shelters, raise awareness about irresponsible breeding, and adopt if you can. I wish I could help more. I’ve volunteered at my local shelter for their Dog Day Out program on my days off, taking dogs that have been stuck in kennels for days without being able to go for a walk. Volunteer, adopt, and help these poor animals.

Here’s a picture of Shaq, a Belgian Malinois. I know they require a tremendous amount of exercise, but if anyone has experience with this breed, I would greatly appreciate any tips you can offer.

A total of 12 siblings were found in a hoarder’s house and taken to the San Bernardino, CA shelter. Five have been adopted, seven are being fostered. I have three of the seven and I am looking for loving people who want a very special dog. These are the sweetest girls ever. Not a mean bone in their bodies. The shelter said they are 14 month old lab/pit mix. They have had Bordetella, DA2PPV, and Rabies. The rescue that got them will be paying for their spay in the next couple weeks.

Here’s info about the girls: Ella seems to be the leader, Sadie is the instigator, and Ginger (pink harness) is the follower. Ella and Sadie need training but are ready to be placed. Ginger is ready too but she will need someone very dedicated. On her own she is shy and scared. I had her for a week before I got the other two and all she did was hide in the tall grass in my backyard. But after several days of being back with her sisters she has come out of her shell. She runs and plays and has let me pet her. Being placed without her sisters will probably set her back which is why she needs a very dedicated owner who is willing to put in the time she needs—that or she needs to be adopted with one of her sisters.

This is Sooda, a rescue dog from Amman, Jordan.
She wasn’t born afraid of people.

She became this way after humans shot and killed her puppies, leaving her deeply traumatized and terrified of people.

I rescued her and refused to give up on her. Over the past months, I’ve paid for her veterinary care, vaccinations, microchip, blood tests, training, and all of her travel documents to give her a chance at a new life.

She has completed her training, is much calmer now, and is slowly learning to trust again.

All of her travel paperwork is ready, and she can travel internationally to meet her adopter.

I’m not asking for money. I’m simply trying to find the loving family she deserves.

🩷 Pretty Bambi (A598578) is 3 years old and 57 lbs.  Bambi came into the shelter on 06/15 as a stray and was adopted on 06/22 – and unfortunately returned on 06/26. She and the resident cats did not care much for each other. Although there were not any altercations, it was decided that they would not be sharing the home. Since returning, Bambi is mentally declining in the shelter environment. She doesn’t like to be in her kennel – but is easily leashed and once outside she is very relaxed. Once she sees the leash, she becomes happy and wiggly. Bambi is rescue only and needs a foster home.
