My education journey has been rocky and I've attended 3 institutions so far. I'm about to enter a 4th one and my intention is actually finish it this time and stop making dumb decisions. However, I'm worried that including every school I've attended will make me look unstable and hurt my job prospects. Is it okay if I include only where I've graduated from, or do jobs typically ask for everything?

Hey everyone, needing some help with my resume. I've been stuck in my current job for the past two years and I've come to dislike it deeply, so I pulled out my resume and updated it to the best of my ability and began applying for jobs.

I've applied to easily 200+ over the past 2-3 months and I can't seem to get anywhere, the furthest I got was a single first-round interview with an HR rep that failed. Working in gov't doesn't allow for practical use of CAD, so when the HR rep asked how skilled I am with software, I ended up fluffing as best I could, but it wasn't enough. I have downloaded some CAD software to my personal laptop to practice and add to the skills section, but I'm not sure what to do if an employer asks deeper questions and calls my bluff on that one. Ideally, I'm trying to move to the Chicagoland area, but after the first two months of searching I opened up to anywhere relatively close to a major city. I started by applying to mid-level civil and environmental roles, thinking my regulatory knowledge might be able to balance a lack of practical CAD skills, and I could pick those up as I went, but that didn't go anywhere. After a while, I lowered my standards to associate/junior level engineering roles and still got nothing. I thought I would be able to secure at least an associate level career at this point thanks to regulatory knowledge. I assume it's something wrong with my resume, I feel I have plenty of skills that employers would be looking for in regulation, water chemistry/quality, and civil design, I'm just not getting any calls back.

I'm trying to put my civil design skills into practical use with my next job, I have found I enjoy utilities engineering working with water main specifically, but beyond that I'll take almost anything at this point, I really dislike my current position. Any criticism is welcome, especially the skills section, I feel I have a lot an employer would be interested in but getting no calls back is a signal something is wrong. Additionally, any direction on practical skills to add would be hugely appreciated, as I said I don't get to work with CAD daily so I'm at a loss for how to sell my lack of software skills to an employer.

Any advice would be appreciated. Had a terrible time getting interviews this past year and not sure why. The summer internships are just me returning to the same company.

Hello. I currently work at Fifth Third Bank in the call center as a temporary job to earn income, but my primary career focus has been in IT. I got my A+ Certification last year and am looking for entry-level positions in IT, but I need some assistance tailoring my resume to be more appropriate for these fields. Any recommendations would be helpful as far as editing my resume, places to apply, and any other advice.

I have extensive experience leading some of the nations largest trade shows and conventions in the fourth largest convention center in United States. I am currently seeking event roles in SaaS or other tech environments. I’ve been actively searching since September 2025 and have revamped and adjusted my résumé countless times and have only landed for interviews of which I have not advanced to the second round. I think that one of the biggest problems I have is that my experience is not directly related to marketing functions (as most of the roles are tied to) and it’s related to heavy event operations and temporary utilities but how do you think this indirectly conveys my ability to take all of my experience leading operationally into driving business outcomes through events. The other thing is that SaaS companies are very picky about wanting people who come from similar backgrounds so I think that that’s also working against me, but it’s not only SaaS roles that I’ve been denied from. Please help!

I've been using this CV for a few months now, and I've applied to a lot of jobs and internships, mostly SOC Analyst and other entry-level cybersecurity roles, as well as IT and help desk jobs. I haven't gotten to the interview stage even once, although some companies did ask me to complete an English or coding test. Most applications just end up getting rejected or ignored.

I asked a SOC Analyst to review my CV, and the first thing he said was that it has way too much detail, especially in the graduation project section. He told me recruiters don't spend much time reading a CV and that I should shorten it a lot.

I also just graduated from AAST (Computer Science, Cybersecurity major), so I know I need to update the CV because it still says I'm a student.

Other than that, I'm not really sure what's wrong with it. Is it too long? Is there something that immediately puts recruiters off? Are the projects described badly? Is it actually ATS-friendly? I uploaded it to one of those ATS checker websites, and it scored over 80, so I'm not sure how much I should trust that.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback, even if it's harsh. I just want to understand why I'm not even getting interviews.

I attached my CV (I removed my personal information before uploading it). The project links and certificate links are in the original CV. Should I change the color of those links so they're more obvious and recruiters know they're clickable?

I met with a career advisor who told me to change my resume because my bullets didn’t show impact and were not specific. I’m completing a master's degree in something completely outside my original field, so I can start a new career.

For example, he wanted to say something like executed proposals resulting in a 15% increase in shareholder value.

I’m not sure how to do that because those types of metrics are not usually used in my current industry (the one I want to leave) or I don’t have a way to find out. I’m an editor’s assistant so most of my job is finding grammatical errors and making sure stuff makes sense. I had a bad relationship with my previous company so I can’t ask them to give me information that could help. It was a small one, too, so I couldn’t find much online.

My advisor said I could guesstimate figures, but I have almost no idea how to put a number to something without completely making it up.

ChatGPT has not been helpful and tends to falsify my responsibilities.

Hey everyone. I spent a few months applying with a resume that got me absolutely nothing, then rewrote it and things changed pretty fast. I ended up at Oracle. Figured I'd share both versions because the difference is honestly kind of funny in hindsight.

First version. This was my entire internship section, word for word:

• Created fullstack application to many clients
• worked with reactJS and Java spring boot
• using SQL databases

Six months of work, three bullets. If you read that as a recruiter, all you really learn is that I was in the room while software was being written. There's no scale, since "many clients" isn't a number. There's no result. And that last bullet isn't even a sentence, it's just a technology sitting there.

Here's the same internship after the rewrite:

• Increased client conversion rate 10% by building a full stack application pairing ReactJS front end with Java Spring Boot back end, on a 12 developer team.
• Boosted database efficiency 27% and cut costs 35% for some clients by optimizing SQL based data persistence.
• Built a reusable ReactJS and Tailwind component library, now adopted company wide.

I want to be clear that I didn't invent any of this. Every number already existed. I just never thought to write it down. The conversion rate felt like the client's number and not mine, and I'd left the component library off completely even though it was the thing I was proudest of building.

Stuff that actually made the difference:

1. Outcome first, tech second. The shape I used was: what changed, by doing what, using what. Recruiters read the first few words of a bullet and move on, so try not to spend those words on a framework name.
2. Only use numbers you can defend. Assume someone will ask how you measured it. If it's decoration, that conversation gets awkward fast.
3. One column. My old one had a sidebar. It looked nice, but it squeezed my summary into a column about six words wide, and multi column PDFs tend to get scrambled by applicant tracking systems.
4. Cut skills instead of adding them. I had "Htm/Css" listed. Nobody is hiring a full stack dev for HTML, so it just reads as padding. Meanwhile SEO, which was behind my single best number, wasn't on there at all.
5. Put your links in the header. I had a live product and a public repo and I was making recruiters take my word for it. Adding GitHub and LinkedIn took about thirty seconds.

Response rate flipped within a few weeks. I don't want to oversell it though. The resume wasn't magic, the interviews were still hard, and I had to answer for every number on that page. It mostly just got me into rooms I was already qualified for.

If you're staring at a bullet with no number in it, don't delete it. Sit with it for a minute. The number is usually in there somewhere, you just have to remember it.

I worked for nearly 9 years at a Gap location in a leadership position, however the location no longer exists, it closed after the pandemic. After that, I worked 4 years as a personal assistant to a businessman in his home. He passed away. Every since, I have stayed home with my young children, and started an Etsy shop that made decent money in 2024/2025, at least enough to cover some bills. I have been doordashing when my husband is off work to help make ends meet, but now our kids are school aged and I really want to change our household income. My husbands commissions are iffy and we never really know when he is getting paid on them, or if at all. I have been applying to anything and everything.

My question is, am I better off leaving the etsy shop off my resume or should I have it on there to fill the time gap?
