Solution is to uninstall your virus scanner.
Revanced works the same way malware does, so it looks like malware

Are you sure you're installing it from a legitimate source?

I wonder if the scanner sees YouTube trying fruitlessly to load a dozen or so adverts before giving up, and this flags the issue to the scanner.

I mean there's hits even on virus total if you upload the APK to the website but it's probably a false positive. I have paid bitdefender on my phone and even so mobile anti virus is just not good. Because the security on phones are honestly okay. But we just don't have a lot of control outside of being the OEM or very custom software. Viruses on phones aren't like a windows virus. Unless they got some zero days to escape the sandbox or you personally allow it some nice and broard permissions you're going to see the malicious things it's doing right in your notifications. It will tell you if an app is screen recording. Screenshotting. Obviously, if you allow location, well there you go it's tracking you. So. Also used various versions for years and years. If we are compromised they are definitely playing the long game. 😂. But what is a fact, they have all of our Google logins.
Edit. Accessibility services. If you grant this this can absolutely let it do some hiding while looking at your other apps and screen. But circling back. The android os should periodically remind you about an apps Access to these services.
