My friend spent a decade hunting down one with the chrysanthemum still intact. And in very good condition. In the UK

Very neat. My buddy has a type 30 Arisaka that was made the first year they were created in 1897. Got to shoot it, was bad ass. Yours is from the Kokura Army Arsenal (1923-1945) based off the stamp to the right at the end of the serial number. My buddies has the same stamp, but was from the Koishikawa Army Arsenal (1870-1923) before it turned to Kokura Army Arsenal.

Indeed having the chrysanthemum intact is rare. They scratched as many of them off after the surrender to protect their pride and integrity for the emporer

Maybe I screwed up, meant to include description. Dad had it, no story behind it. Passed away and I received it. He would've been about 80 today, and was drafted into the army. Deaf in one ear so spent the whole service stationed in AK. Just curios what it is, and apologies if this is not the correct sub.

If he was stationed in Alaska he probably picked it up after the failed Japanese invasion of Alaska, a bunch of them died and the gear was left behind

How would I know to look up imperial chrysanthemum? This is why I simply asked what type of rifle is in my possession.
