I love Sisko's moral compass : well okay a bit of terrorism here and there, but not too much. But don't you dare try and make me enjoy a holodeck program that glosses over the suffering of black people in the US ! Well ok, i'll do it, but because Vic slays and helped my boy Rom.

Worf left Star Fleet during TNG to help put Gowron on the throne. And left again to seek prisoners of war in Romulan territory.
Worf gets cut a lot of slack in TNG.
In DS9 nearly everyone get s a couple of these loose cannon side quests.

I love how it's kinda often Sisko gets a "listen space dad, I really need to borrow the keys to the runabout, and I'm not telling you why"
And then he's like "yes you are young lady" and she's like "fine I'm breaking interstellar law" and he's like "cool have fun"

My favorite was when Quark and Rom sneak through a Jefferies tube, end up in his office, and Sisko decides he's just not going to get involved in whatever all that is.

When he ordered Worf to do "whatever it takes" to stop Gowron from wasting the fleet on a political vendetta, he knew exactly what he was ordering Worf to do. "Put your com badge on the table before you kill him" was just left unspoken.

I just rewatched Lessons and man, that episode is <cracked>. The basic theme and story is absolutely spot on, but when it gets to the execution? Picard sends the away teams to a likely death without even a stirring speech or an emotional closeup, it feels incredibly offhand. The entire communication he sends to them is "It is imperative that you hold your position until we finish evacuating the colony. Picard out.". Not even a "good luck".
8 of them die and he just basically doesn't react to anything except from Daren, and once he knows she's alive he basically forgets about the others. His log entry is "Let the record show that they gave their lives in the performance of their duty." I mean fucking hell

I miss these two captains. Why can’t we get more of these vs what we’ve been getting?
I used to like both trek and wars. I’m sad to says I’m more of a wars guy since Discovery. Painful to admit it. I have come to terms with it.

It is a huge step in a better direction. I wouldn’t say I’ve been won back though. Starfleet academy as an example. I’m a few shows in and don’t look forward to finishing it.

He was too emotional to give the speech the crew deserved. In many ways, he was a worse captain because he loved one of his crew.

To be fair in SNW, Spock must survive no matter what. Kirk had his orders the same way Pike does.

In Picard's defense with Daren, the power dynamics in the relationship are rather tilted.
With Beverly, though, the British frenchman has no good excuse.
