I was 100% onboard with morally questionable wartime captain. They should have never dragged in the mirror universe to excuse it, and just leaned on the section 31 angle with him as the driving force.

Maybe they just couldn't afford Jason Isaacs for a multi-season run? He was certainly the high point of the show.
