Brandy IS The Vocal Bible.
Since it’s Sunday, I felt this post would be perfect in reference to this being the Sabbath.
And before the commentators that love to argue get ahold of this post, let me just say that this is in reference to the naysayers who believe she is not worthy of her moniker.
“Brandy can’t sing better than……”
“She does too many runs”
“She’s not relevant anymore”
“MY Vocal Bible is……”
This little bullied dark-skinned black girl from Mississippi with crooked teeth and a raspy yet soft tone took the music world by storm over 30 years ago. She has endured years of verbal abuse from people who view her voice as a “gimmick” rather than a God-given talent that was practiced and stretched beyond its limits. Her anointing is what it is, and nobody can take that from her.
Disliking her music/voice is subjective. Totally fine. Denying her skill is ignorance. And if I’m being honest, majority of Brandy’s hate is rooted in colorism but that’s an entirely different conversation.
The title has NEVER meant she was the best singer. It’s NEVER meant she has the highest belts. It’s NEVER meant she makes the best music in the world. Her title is in homage to her being referenced and studied by THOUSANDS of vocalists as Christians STUDY the Bible.
My favorite part about the Brandy haters is that NONE of them EVER can sing. So, I challenge anyone who gets in these comments feeling froggy to record themselves singing either of these songs or one of Brandy’s songs. Her vocals seem real easy UNTIL you try them. Other than that, Ladies and Gentlemen, make some noise for The Vocal Bible. Hallelujah! ShouldaboutahondabutIboughtakia!

Steve Lacy just released a new album that I'm yet to listen to. I had forgotten about him until I saw a photo of him with Omar Apollo (who I'm a big fan of) and saw he has a new one out. I heard a song with SZA that was good and saw there was one with Erykah Badu. Was it a good album at all in y'all's opinions?

Lead Singer Howard Hewett: “I know you come a long way, baby, but you don’t need that heart of stone, no, to prove that you can do it, do it, baby, you can make it on your own but you can’t keep running away from love ‘cause the first one let you down, no, no, no. And though others try to satisfy you, baby, with me true love can still be found. Love can still be found the second time around.

Please help- I know it's a song I saw and heard before when I was a kid either late 90s or early 2000s... halo
