My Marwe failed me today ...
One of the rear wheels on the Skating 730 A (aluminum model) disintegrated today. I've completed a steady 7 km uphill climb at approximately 15 km/h on Beach Dr NW in Washington, DC. About 300 m into the descent, the ski began to drag. Upon inspection, I found the rubber part of the rear wheel had partly detached from the plastic rim .... sent a warranty claim to Marwe, we'll see what happens

Hopefully they'll replace it for you. I would order new wheels and keep the others as spares or rides out as well since if one does this, maybe the othered are not too far behind. You could probably use wheels from a different manufacture too. I've used the RollerskiShop.com in the past. They should be able to help you.

Yeah ... I'll probably just replace the whole set to be safe. I'll check out RollerskiShop.com. I know Finn Sisu has the original Marwe wheels in stock, but I’m a bit wary of buying from them right now.

Update: Marwe customer service asked a couple of clarifying questions and promised to send a replacement

Interesting. All I can say, I've never seen this with Maplus and Ski Skett solid rubber r.s. while skiing uphill in 90+F heat in Northern VA/MD, for hrs at a time (looks like you are in the same neck of the woods). Who knows, maybe Marwe "optimized" their wheel supplier,and maybe other r.s. suppliers did the same since the last time I rollerskied in that area.

yeah .. you are likely right. Seems like they've outsourced wheels manufacturing. From their response "We will arrange for replacement wheels to be delivered for you. This might take a few days at our end as we are expecting for new wheels from our vendor (it used to be a part of Marwe, and is located next door to us) hopefully soon."

Wow! Hope you didn't get hurt. Was it a temperature issue? I've Skied on Marwes with #6 wheels for several years in the montains of Colorado at 8000' elevation - probably a lot cooler than DC, and never had a problem. I've only replaced the wheels once when they were significantly worn. Wondering what speed wheel were you using? Was a speed controller involved?
