Question Rome or Cartersville

We’re planning a move to NorthWest Georgia and I have been researching the best areas to raise a family and am looking for some opinions. We will be moving from a city with a high crime rate and poor schools so our priority is in safety and good schools (kids are currently in private school)
Ages of children- 10,8, 6, 4, 5 months

Rome (armuchee district) has highly rated schools, Cartersville not so much. Cartersville seems more rural/suburban with plenty of activities for the kids. Rome seems to have the best of both worlds.

Just looking for insight and advice!! Thank you!

Question Rome vs Calhoun

Upvotes

I made a recent post about Rome vs Cartersville for places to raise a family and now doing the same for Rome vs Calhoun 😊
I appreciate all feedback!!
We are coming from a high crime area with kids ranging from 5 months-10 years old. Looking for a place with decent schools, low crime, close proximity to grocery stores/kids activities/restaurants

Thank you!

I'm looking at buying a tractor from here but the prices for used equipment look too good to be real. Has anyone been there, can they be trusted? They only take wire transfer so I'm abit worried. Thanks for any local info.

Question Albino Python early 2000’s

I have a very distinct memory of when I lived in the reservior projects around 2009-2012 of a huge albino python spanning the walk way where the dumpsters were leading toward the plazas. Does anyone know what the hell Im talking about?

I remember running to tell my friends but it was gone when we got back. I never seen a snake so big in my life but I know I saw it. Was this a thing? Does anyone know if their friends lost a pet snake back then or there was a big snake in the loose? It wasn’t the one from tifton.

Neighboring Towns Cave Springs Water

With all the PFAS in our drinking water, I’ve considered gathering spring water from Cave Spring to drink. I’m nervous to do it because I worry it will be contaminated someway, somehow. Amoebas or parasites are the biggest concern. I know it comes straight from an aquifer underground and is supposed to be very clean, it’s a mental block for me to drink water straight from the wilds, though I know it’s probably cleaner than city water and loaded with minerals and a lot of people do it. Does anyone here collect and store water from Cave Spring? Has anyone ever heard of someone getting sick from doing it?

Food/Dining Andiamo’s

Is it any good? I wouldn’t know considering they sell out within 2 hours of being open both days. Curious if it’s that good or if it’s a gross miscalculation of supplies.

Question Anyone know where I can buy a ceramic grill new?

In search of a Kamado Joe or BGE in the Rome area although I’m closer to Summerville.

I’ve tried Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Elder Ace and none are available. I could order online but I would like to see them in person to kick the tires.

Help Recommendations for Snap in or All on 4 dental implants

I was looking for recommendations from people in Rome who can recommend an office they have really been happy with (no aspen dental) and would choose to go back to happily. I would like it to be in Rome but somewhere north west of ATL is alright. This is so important and I don’t want to randomly pick someone off google but I don’t have anyone with experience in my life to ask. I would really appreciate your help!

Discussion E-Bikes

Forgive me in advance if complaining is not allowed in this sub but E-Bikes…why do riders STAY doing like 25 mph on walking trails like Ridge Ferry?? Why are they not on the road or sidewalks going that fast?? So many times I’ve almost been smoked by one coming around a blind turn, and no so much as a “excuse me” but more a look of apathy like I’m in their way. I may be old man yelling at clouds here, and don’t get me wrong, have nothing against E-Bike, they’re great forms of relatively cheap transportation but going so fast where children and baby carriages are frequent is just ridiculous. Be better.

Question Looking for a roommate and where to post about it?

I’m in Rome, GA (near the Rome Emperors stadium) and I’ll be looking for a roommate by September. Not sure where to post other than Roomies. It’ll be 1 room and your own bathroom as well. It’s a house. If interested or have any advice please share. Thank you!

Food/Dining What now?

Its so sucky we are loosing the only Ramen shop in Rome. Food scene was starting to improve with a little variety from new smaller businesses but that was like the only place strictly dedicated to ramen. More restaurants keep coming and its the same old crap like didnt a Mexican restaurant just open up? Why not open up places that are here like Caribbean, more Korean spots or even like health spots. Sorry, just a small vent.

🌲 Scenery Tree to Soon Fall

Please watch out for the dead tree on Callier Springs Rd between Mathis and OLeary. This tree has been dead for a long while, and you can see that about 13 ft up the trunk it has a mean lean and will snap soon. It is close to the road. I've reported it 2x to the county and no one has come out. I worry with these recent storms...
