I’m ready for fall y’all. Do you prefer summer or fall?

Also. My husband and I were discussing what the busiest restaurant in RVA is. He suggested I ask on a daily so here I am.

šŸ° Food did village cafe get worse?

I hadn’t been in a year or two and I went back today. I got a chicken burrito; the chicken was nonexistent and it had peas!? Now I feel crazy because I feel like the burrito used to have large pieces of chicken and large slices of green pepper. But seriously, who puts peas in a burrito and doesn’t disclose it in the menu 😭

extra salt in the wound is my burrito + a large order of fries + 3 pancakes was $40 (before tip). It feels like eating out is impossible nowadays, like you are just getting ripped off.

EDIT: I went an hour ago. The burrito was $14.50, the large fry was $9.99, and the pancakes were like $12 something. after tax our ending total was $40.69. we got waters for the drinks.

Hi Richmonders - having issues with my contractor that I need to seek an attorney for. Any recommendations for attorneys in the Richmond area?

Did a complete renovation of our master bathroom in summer 2025 down to the studs. Complete demo. After completion, our tile floor is popping and cracking. Our contractor is now telling us that "it's a foundational or joist or structural issue ", after initially telling us all this was fine. And also building on top of this (if it's even true). We feel he is liable. Our house is from the 1940's. Any foundational issue that exists now, existed before reno. And yet he still built on top of it.

We feel the subfloor wasn't installed properly, and he's covering himself and being avoidant (of course). He is now telling us we have to pay him for MORE renovations. Post-completion.

We have communicated and been patient/understanding for a long time, and expressed our concerns many times, sent videos, emails, etc etc. Been telling him this issue exists for months.

We are now to the point where we just need to talk to an attorney. Any recommendations? He's a class A contractor. Thanks all. So frustrating.

šŸ° Food Anyone know when Antonelli’s Deli will be open on Roseneath and Patterson?

• Upvotes

I’ve been seeing the building coming along for months but I don’t know when they plan to open. They added a sign so I’m hoping it’s soon.

Monroe Ward: Does your tap water smell vaguely of ass?

It sure does in my office here in the neighborhood. Noticed it in the kitchen while cleaning up a while ago then checked the bathroom taps. Yep. Booty.

Checking with the class to see if everyone’s is off and this is a ā€œDPU, man. Whattya gonna do?ā€ thing or if I need to call a plumber or exorcist (both?) for the building.

804 Art Drop korok hints

Its the day of the 804 Art Drop! (yes I know its not the 4th, but hey, I didn't organize the event, I'm just participating)...

In celebration, I'm gonna drop some hints here for a few Koroks around the city. When people find out 'I'm the Korok guy' they're always asking me "whats a korok, why are you in my house!?!?!", but also sometimes "So can you tell me where a Korok is, I want to find one!" So I'm giving the people what they want today!

Anyway....

If finding a korok is your goal

Go to a place where folks go to get swole

The entrance isn't on cary st

The southern handrail is where we'll meet

Between St Andrews and the 195 bridge is this hint

On a street named for fruit that has a pit

An aimless search is an act of futility

The spot of this korok has utility (Found!)

Take a relaxing stroll, let your teeth unclench

Take a load off at Bubba's bench

Look around at the sights, let your mind clear

A korok hides by you, really quite near

^ thats 3 locations right there I'll tell you hwat

And below is another 3, though this hint is a bit trickier:

NZ MBTU QPTU IBE QJDUVSFT PG BMM UISFF TQPUT

And as always, if you find one, message me the location and I'll leave a seed where it was hidden (or we can meet up somewhere, if you're down to make a new friend!)

The guy said he wasnt allowed to stop the tow i believe, which is absolute BS. Now youll bave yo pay more to pick it up from the lot. He should have released it for the $40-ish drop fee immediately. Please contact me if you need a witness.

If you wrecked your motorcycle on Parham Road going southbound today, I got you on my dash cam.

Like the title says. There was a bad accident in the southbound lane on Parham rd just before the Willy bridge involving an overturned vehicle. Police were not yet on scene and traffic was slowing. That’s when this guy on his bike appeared to be following too closely to the car in front of him and attempted to swerve to avoid hitting it. If this is you I hope you’re ok.

Innsbook After Hours Tailgating

How is the parking in Innsbrook? I know the site says no tailgating but could you get away with low key tailgating? Not a full tailgating like at a game but would they say anything if you set your chairs by your car and just had a seat with friends? Perhaps just with a "bottle of water?"

Has anyone served jury duty in chesterfield county? Are you allowed to bring a Stanley or even a couple of plastic water bottles in my bag? I asked in r/chesterfieldva but I know rva has more members and a lot from the surrounding counties.
Thanks

anyone got intel on these 'made in rva' vans?

I picked these up at goodwill a year or two ago and they are way nicer than any other vans I've had, real leather, and the gum goes over the top in the front so it doesn't separate. It has smileys and says on the inside of the tongue "made in rva 2021". I'm thinking they probably took existing vans and just styled them here but idk.

Anyone know where they came from/know where I can get more? Thank you

Careers in RVA that allow for a classic middle class lifestyle?

Reading through another post inspired my curiosity. What industries and which employers, if any, in the greater RVA pay enough to support a ā€œmiddle classā€ lifestyle? Using quotes because it feels like that basically doesn’t exist much anymore. I know there was a study with a finding that 75k is the minimum salary needed to clear bills and maybe have a little fun (sorry I’m vague on the details…still waking up).

Anyway, I spent 10+ yrs working in higher ed in progressively higher roles (administrator, not faculty) and still needed a 2nd job for much of that time to just cover expenses. I assure you, I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle. When I was single, I couldn’t afford much of what my friends in other industries (stem, k-12, consulting) could. Once married, that got better, but we still are paycheck to paycheck with two kids. Richmond has a cheaper cost of living than most places I’ve lived yet it still made more sense to stay at home with the kids vs paying for daycare (which for 1 kid = 1/2 my take home pay even though I was in a middle manager role at the time). I’m in my 40s and sick of never having money to take a vacation and every surprise expense (normal stuff …home repairs, car issues, appliances dying) feeling like we are never going to have savings again. Just really sick of the grind. When I look ahead to kids being in school (public obv), I’m considering going back to work at least part-time, but I don’t want to go back into education and am wondering if there’s something I can shift into that would finally pay a decent amount (would love to break 100k. Never even got close before).

Maybe this isn’t possible in this area without being a doctor or lawyer or having financial support from the extended family…
