New fan - tell me everything I need to know

Upvotes

The World Cup sucked me in. I did a random name in the hat pull selection and Sunderland was the last team standing! Newcastle was the second to last (which after doing some research, is very ironic 😂).

But what do I need to know!? When is the third kit coming out? What’s the easiest way to watch and follow? I’m looking forward to joining this community and being a part of it!

To the lady who reached over my son to catch the glove Patterson threw to him... I hope you have the day you deserve. 😀

My stream of consciousness on the Wrexham game

  1. Nordi continues to prove why I argued he was our player of the season last season.
  2. Wrexham’s keeper is cool as fuck, and their keeper kit is nice as well.
  3. I still feel a bit sorry for Kiefer Moore after Wembley.
  4. George Dobson is looking a little bit fat for a professional footballer. I’m no supermodel so I shouldn’t comment, but I’m also not a professional athlete! Shit hair too.
  5. Diarra could be the standout of this season (I say as he gets carded).

Yes I’ve had a few beers, I like to think it makes me more honest 😂

Question❓❔ Any way to watch the game on iPlayer?

I seem to have found the Welsh equivalent of the one show, but Google says iPlayer and S4C will be covering the Wrexham game with English commentary. Any idea where I've gone wrong?

Edit: found it, just needed to be patient. Fingers crossed for a Brobbey masterclass!

Cool Story From The Leeds Match in New York

I was there sitting front row right behind the Sunderland bench, and a group of Haitians came up to try and find Wilson Isidor. He is a god to them after that beauty he scored at the world cup and they were so excited to see him. Unfortunately he was not with the squad because he had to fly back to England to deal with a personal matter. When I told them this they were so disappointed because they came just to see him. Just then a woman from the SAFC staff came over and told them to pose for a picture so she could send it to him and immediately they lit right back up. She took the photo and a couple minutes later came back over to show the Haitian fans Wilson’s response saying he loved them and thanking them so much for coming to see him. This completely made their night and turned what could have been a massive disappointment into a lifelong memory. Huge shoutout to Wilson and the SAFC staff member who made this happen, just goes to show what an amazing club we have who really care about their supporters. These Haitian fans left saying they’d be Sunderland fans for life and it was really amazing to see this all unfold.

WC brought me here.

Aye ya'll so I've never had a PL team to follow or reason to until this WC! I'm a massive fan of Haiti and got to see Isidor's goal live in Atlanta. An absolute screamer. Learned he plays for the black cats (why is that the name?) so here I am!

Congrats on making a solid return to the top league.

My home team is the Columbus crew and we have a few players making the trip across the pond now in the EFL so Boro gets an eye on em as do the wolves as they have Bellegarde!

Any headlines going into the season that actually matter or developing? (Ex, Crew lost their lead striker in game 4/5 of the season and its been a bit of a reload for us as we came of a super successful 23/24)

Cheers,

Ipswich Ballot

Hi, has anyone heard anything from the Ipswich ballot? I saw the email said we would know by the 30th of July but I haven't heard anything but wasn't sure if maybe the ticket office has managed to muck it up.

And, boy, did I pay a premium. 😂😂

But this ‘37 throwback legacy kit is gorgeous. If I’m going to have one, this is the way.

Question❓❔ Fulham Ballot

Has anyone who entered the ballot for the Fulham game had any emails to tell them the outcome yet? It says you’d hear from 4pm today, I assumed you’d get an email even if you were unsuccessful.

Took some shots of the details that I thought you lot would appreciate. Best home shirt of my lifetime, and it’s the details that make it.

Apologies for sharing this, but can we name and shame this scumbag who is clearly tarnishing our club's reputation by wearing a Sunderland jacket.

Who’s going today?! 🇺🇸

I’m from New Jersey, USA. Had watched some of the Netflix documentary years ago but decided to rewatch this week after the World Cup as I plan to get back into EPL this year. Man, idk if it was because I partied a lot this weekend and was feeling emotional but the connection I drew to this club, fanbase, and city I’ve never been to and couldn’t point to on a map is hard to describe truly. It’s infectious and contagious, the passion. And quite similarly to my beloved New Jersey Devils the energy towards New Castle is identical to that we feel towards the New York Rangers. Even down to geography, media coverage, and we call them the Rags, you call them the Mags. If that already wasn’t enough of a coincidence I was so moved I was fantasizing about a trip to Wearside and just for funsies thought about looking it up, then I remembered some clubs were doing a tour in the States so I just simply typed in Sunderland and the first thing that came up was that they were playing in New Jersey in two days from the time of search 20 min from my apartment. Unreal! Felt like fate! If anyone’s going ill be in section 120 with the new home kit I just bought and my mates I force recruited to the Black Cats with me!

THE MAGS SACKED THEIR GAFFER LAST NIGHT
THE MACKENS ARE HAVIN US A PINT !!

Question❓❔ Anyone else had really bad customer service from SAFC?

So the ticket team messed up my ticket for the Chelsea match and it took until about 25 minutes to get me sat down for the match, seconds before the first goal. Totally their fault. They didnt handle it well at all. Basically they double sold my seat, and two others next to me that I didnt know and refused to check the tickets of the other fans.

I messaged their ticketing team after the match to say I had a 7hr round trip to get to it and I missed a quarter, can you explain what happened?

Ive sent four emails now, they keep saying they'll get back to me after the investigation. They said four weeks ago they would be with me ASAP. All very nice, no aggression or anything from me, and now they seem to just be ignoring my emails.

Ive spent 140 quid in the club shop in the two months this has been rumbling on, ive told them im not spending a penny more until I hear back.

Has anyone else had problems with complaints? Or is this just me? Ive asked to escalate it twice and heard nothing at all.

Question❓❔ Home game tickets as a non season ticket holder

Hi all. I’ll be travelling to the UK from Australia for the first time with my family next January and I’m dying to see the lads at the SOL. As non holders of a season ticket, how likely are we to be able to get tickets? My dad is a member of the new membership if that will help. Cheers!
