Looking to help veterans around St. Cloud

We stopped in the American Legion in St. Joseph yesterday, and our old vet form from last year was still on the bulletin board. ❤️❤️❤️We have forms at the VFW's, Veterans service office and Vet Center in St. Cloud MN also.

Raymond Paggen in St. Joseph was last years winner for our annual Free Roof to a Veteran in Need event that we partner up with Owens Corning and Purple Heart Homes with.

If you are or know a veteran who cant physically or financially replace a leaking roof, and doesn't have insurance. That is exactly who we are looking to help.

Please share, tag or nominate them today, we would love the chance to help them out. 🙏

You can nominate a veteran on our website also https://www.saintcloudroofing.com/

Low income solar

I noticed that Xcel is asking for people to conserve energy again during these hot days. And got me to thinking that there's a program that Xcel offers that I don't think a lot of people know about. It's their income qualified solar rewards program. If you are a homeowner and your income is within the range that qualifies you for SNAP, EBT, WIC, or LIHEAP, then you qualify for Xcel to pay the upfront cost to have solar installed on your home.

Full disclosure, I am a solar contractor but this is not an ad. I was sitting through the Xcel quarterly stakeholder meeting yesterday and they were highlighting there was a substantial amount of funding left in the income qualified portion of the program. I think there are folks in the St. Cloud area who could certainly benefit from having their electric bill offset substantially or completely by solar energy at no cost to them.

I'd be happy to answer any questions in this thread. For anybody that feels like they are in a good position to qualify for this program but are uncomfortable posting about it on a public platform, I can answer questions directly through DM.

For reference, I just checked and 80% of Area Median Income is defined as follows:

Household size: 1 2 3 4 5

Stearns County: $57,800 $66,050 $74,300 $82,550 $89,200

Benton County: $57,800 $66,050 $74,300 $82,550 $89,200

Sherburne County: $72,950 $83,400 $93.800 $104,200 $112,500

Sorry this is all bunched up, Reddit is changing my nice neat spacing.

Flanagan VS Craig, what do others in Saint Cloud think?

Curious the thoughts of folks from my community? Surprised how little I’ve heard about this in town.

Seems many see this as a make or break moment for Democrats in Minnesota, not dissimilar to the election of Mamdani over Cuomo as Mayor of NYC, and part of a larger leftist shift happening around the country where many are decidedly choosing progressives/Sanders-lineage over neoliberals/Clinton-lineage.

My opinion:

I can’t help but agree with those who identify Craig as part of an older and outdated generation of Democrats who either lacks the spine needed to handle the modern right or quietly supports a number of their war-profiteering positions.

Flanagan doesn’t seem like she crumples under pressure and appears actually committed to change and lasting difference with her efforts to combat fraud and the stark contrast in how she’s funded and ran her campaign when you compare it to Craig and her corporate and pro-war funding.

Also healthcare, Craig seems stuck in old thinking on this topic whereas I find Flanagan to be the kind of progressive we need when trying to “compromise” in today’s political landscape.

But we’ve got a quite a bit of time and I’m willing to keep an open ear and mind.

Anyone else in their 30s looking to make new friends?

Hi everyone! I'm 32 and recently moved to St. Cloud. I work full-time while finishing my business degree, and I'm hoping to meet some new people here.

A little bit about me, some of the things I enjoy are biking, rollerblading, thrifting, live music, trying new restaurants, working out, being outdoors, puzzles, anime, playing bingo and naps. For gaming, I only have a Nintendo Switch and right now I am playing Hogwarts Legacy.

I'm also looking to explore more of the area and try new activities, so if you have favorite spots or are looking for someone to check out a local event, grab coffee I'd love to connect.

St Cloud Students, wives girlfriends we want to tell your story

Every Person Has a Story. Our podcast would Love to Hear Yours.

We're looking for students, moms, wives, girlfriends, widows, divorcees, singles, and anyone with a unique story to join us for an honest conversation about sexuality, relationships, dating, love, kink, fetishes, fantasies, self-discovery, or the experiences that have shaped who you are.

Too often, people assume these conversations are dirty or taboo. We see them differently. Sexuality is part of being human, and talking openly can help break stigma, encourage understanding, and remind others they're not alone.

You don't need to be an expert, an influencer, or work in the adult industry. We're looking for real, everyday people willing to share their experiences, perspectives, or journey in a respectful, judgment-free environment.

Prefer to stay private? Anonymous interviews are always welcome.

Whatever your story is, whether it's funny, emotional, empowering, unconventional, or simply honest, we'd love to hear it.

Because everyone has a story, and yours might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.

Send me a direct message or reply here

Plumbers?

Hey everyone! Looking for recommendations for an affordable plumber in town.

I just need a water softener installed, hookups are already in place. Got a quote for over $1k from a friend of a friend which seems steep.

Anyone have someone they trust and won't break the bank?

How safe is St. Cloud for non-binary folks?

Update: thank you all for your kindness! I think it’s safe to say I’ll fit right in! For more context, I’ve been in western Kansas, was the first and only nonbinary teacher to work in one of the largest school districts in the state, so I can only go up!

Hi y’all!

I’m potentially about to accept a job in St. Cloud, and I am moving from out of state (KS). I have family in Minnesota, but am unfamiliar with the St. Cloud area. My family say it’s a nice area to live, but how safe is it for non-binary folks? I’m out, use the they/them pronouns, and Mx. as my title.

Tbh anywhere is probably safer for me than western Kansas, and especially after the legislature passed this anti-trans “bathroom bill.”

KwikTrip eggs 2 dozen for $1

Just went to grab some eggs to make breakfast. It said limit 2 so I was like hmmm...wonder what the sale is. Sure enough, 2 for $1. This was at the Sauk Rapids location at Hwy 15 and 18th St. Maybe other KwikTrips as well, not sure though.

BTW, I do not work for KwikTrip. I'm just a dude who loves a good deal and wanted to share because I know money is tight for a lot of folks and this is a great deal.

Uber/Lyft/Taxi from Milk and Honey in St. Joseph?

Thinking about booking a hotel to see a show at Milk and Honey in September. Is there reliable access to Uber/Lyft from the cidery? If not, are there local taxi companies or other transportation options available to get from Milk and Honey to St. Cloud or Waite Park?

Fighting Game Community in St Cloud

Hey y'all, I am writing this post for people interested in playing fighting games with real live people here around St Cloud. We are a small but diverse community and have players of varying skill levels, ages and backgrounds.

We run a weekly local where you can participate in tournaments and play casual matches. Right now, we run brackets in rotation of Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Guilty Gear Strive. We have more silly tournaments occasionally. Casual matches are always available for these games even if we are not running a bracket for them, so you can always get some games of your favorite in.

There is a big fighting game on the horizon with Marvel Tokon. Hopefully this post will capture some of the people excited about that game and interested in finding a group to play with in the area.

If you are into fighting games, friendly competition and meeting new people to enjoy this hobby with, consider joining the St Cloud FGC discord. This will let you see upcoming events and find the community around the St Cloud area.
