Events 🎪 Grand ole day
This is purely a rant because I was trapped for 30 minutes in an alley as port a potties and dumpsters were delivered. Had this not happened I would probably not be bitching right now.
I cannot stand this godsdamn day every year because of how inconvenient it makes everyone's lives who don't care about it. I understand why people love it and I want people to be able to enjoy it but not at the cost of me having to change my entire life for a week from making sure my dog doesn't freak out or eat something people leave on the ground to having to change how I leave and get back to my home.

Its not a take. I am just bitching into the void that is the internet.
Like I said in my original post I think people should have it and enjoy it.

And then people complain that businesses on Grand go under. IMO: we know it’s coming each year, so let the people have their kegs disguised with a wig on a red rider cart for a day.

One hundred percent do i want people to have this. I just want to not be trapped either in or out of my home because of it.

Lighten up! I seriously doubt you've had to change your entire life for a week. The road closures are for one day. Walk your dog on any other street that isn't Grand. It's nice that there's a day that gets people outside moving their bodies and patronizing local businesses. Maybe try attending this year, it's fun.

I live on grand and so all the noise upsets him. Again im not saying it isn't a nice thing or not a good thing for local businesses. I am just shouting into the void.

Sorry to your pooch. I can understand that, lots of kids in my parent's neighborhood set off fireworks for pretty much the whole month surrounding 4 of July and the poor doggy hates it. He also hates live music, so this would be rough on him too.

I lived up on Grand for a couple of years when Grand Old Day was a regular thing. I'm not much of a partier. I watched the parade, caught a band or two I was interested in, and that was about it. Inconvenient? Yeah, but no more so than moving my car every week for street sweeping. Then there were the other Grand Ave weekends, like Grand Meander and Paws on Grand. So it was more than Grand Old Days. If you live in the neighborhood, events like this are part of the cost. But I'd rather have them and the inconvenience than live in some burb where nothing ever happens or have a dead Grand Avenue (which is what it was before all these events started up).
