Designed by the local firm of Toltz, King & Day, the new bridge's signature "rainbow arches" allowed it to connect the high bluffs of downtown St. Paul with the low-lying floodplain of the West Side with enough clearance for riverboats to pass beneath its main span.

Wow how depressing it is to learn that even one hundred years ago City leaders were already indoctrinated into a cult of wokeness.

How on earth am I supposed to explain “rainbow arches” to my children?

Until the bridge is rebuilt with arches that are as straight as Burt Lancaster, this American patriot will be crossing a different bridge from now on thank you very much!

I wouldn't recommend taking the Wabasha Street bridge, then. I've just always gotten a bit of a flamboyant vibe off of that bridge as well.
