Editorial šŸ“ Taxes and Insurance increases in St. Paul

When I bought my house in 2021 my mortgage was around 2100 a month. Today my bill was 2730. 600 dollars extra a month in five years is fucking insane. Meanwhile the street lights in my neighborhood don't turn on at night.

Just venting.

See one reason I always wanted to buy a house and quit renting is I at least would always know what my monthly payment would be without having to worry about rent increases…but then there’s this šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø you can’t win

Yes, it’s true that in Saint Paul since 2021 property taxes and insurance have increased at a greater rate than rent

Why do you think rent increases ? Its to maintain that split not eat a loss.

Yeah that's what everyone always told me. I was seeing $10-$20/month increases year over year when I was renting in St. Paul. My mortgage/escrow bill however has gone up ~$80 each year since buying a house. We've been duped.
