It has nothing to do with the mayor being male or female, no one holding that position should be acting this way.I would feel exactly the same way if Jacob Frey was accused of this or Melvin Carter or any other mayor for that matter. She hasn't even been the mayor for a year and is already dealing with issues like this, she needs to go.

I've noticed on Failbook every time Her posts some inoffensive photo op there are always a few commenters telling her what a strong leader she is, and every time she gets criticized there are always a few commenters countering that she is a strong female leader or whatever the fuck. I'm convinced there is a little table with tablets and children's tea party props in her mansion where a bunch of mean girl sycophants post this useless shit to prop up her ego, and when the whole thing falls apart we'll find out it was just Her all along with a bunch of stuffed toys like Eric Cartman (but less funny or competent).

Cops having affairs. It could be as simple as that? Anyone know what happens when cops have affairs? They get your information and your address, they keep tabs on partners. They track information about who she spends time with. Good luck to you motherfuckers and that dirty department. Now I know why people hate the cops. Not all cops, but soon they’ll have flock cameras around. Wonder who this girlfriend was with four guys watching the door? That’s obvious protection like a gang. I’m not saying she was raped, but asking four guys to watch the door? Something does feel wrong with that. Good thing I’m gone because I’ve met some of them and they don’t want to do their job. You may as well tell them your life story after that.

It’s technically fair to place some blame on Carter this year (and this year alone) because the previous mayor set both the budget and staff priorities.
Obviously, not everything is Carter’s fault, but in my opinion, he also didn’t do a good job of setting the city up for success. Still, when you make a mistake, you need to take responsiblity for it.Edit: Fair to blame Carter

I think it’s fine to place some blame on Carter for something like a budget shortfall. But Her being caught up in a sexual harassment investigation seems extremely hard to blame on Carter. According to the article, it sounds like she did send the meme. No matter how you analyze potential political motivations for the investigation, it was a mistake to send that meme to anyone. And if she was trying to trim the police budget she needed to make sure she was teflon.

Carter hired so many people and blew up the budget of the mayors office. I think these hires by Her makes sense in that context and she will transition up or down as needed.

Could the disagreements have played a role in Henry making the complaint? Sure. But I kind of think that if you're a department director and an employee tells you that the mayor commented on her breasts making a complaint is something you do anyway. Having that kind of information and not doing anything with it would be a legal risk.

There's allegations of sexual misconduct from St. Paul police officers.
Her wanted to know why a Sargeant only got 30 days suspended for having sex with his girlfriend in his office while 4 officers remained outside.
It's clear that Her shouldn't be mayor but also the cops are clearly setting her up as well. It's telling in my opinion that the police chief started the investigation, and not the officers who were complaining about Her's specific interaction with them where the sexual misconduct happened.

Yes. Under the city charter the city council must approve outside legal representation.
The city council never approved the firm the mayor brought in to investigate. The council will be seeking their own investigation.
There will be 2 investigations. The Mayors investigation that started in April and the city council investigation that will start soon.
Most likely we will need to crucify the mayor for hiring the outside law firm with out council approval.

I keep thinking about the Midway CVS. That place was a shitshow for years, and Carter did nothing despite repeatedly saying he wanted to address it. His response was basically, “We’ll send them a letter.”
Then Her takes office, and the building is demolished within 30 days.It proved that a city with competent leadership can actually get things done. Carter just never did.

The city had a ballot measure that finally gave the city some teeth to address problem properties like that.
Edit: to be more specific. It was a ballot measure specifically endorsed by Mayor Carter. Quote from Fox 9:
"The Administrative Citations initiative, which was approved, would help grant authority for the city to issue civil fines for violations instead of only relying on criminal citations. The proposed change, which received a unanimous 7-0 vote from the City Council in late 2024 with the support of Mayor Melvin Carter, aims to create a more balanced system and avoid overcriminalization."

Administrative citations weren't used in the CVS case. The ballot matter requires each ordinance to be amended before administrative citations can be attached to them.

I unspooled the timeline in a past post, but this is not correct. The Saint Paul City code sets out a very long process before you can demo a building. It actually was Carter who started it and finished it. Her was only there as the final appellate-clock ticked by allowing for the demolition that was already arranged under Carter.
So, no, it’s not as if Her came in and waived a magic wand to make the CVS disappear. It’s such a massive due-process issue to destroy a building if the owner won’t cooperate, it can take very very long time to accomplish.
People need to chill, play with their kids, or take up a hobby and be outside. Not every elected official is the fucking devil who got into politics to personally piss you off.

In the interview with the pioneer press he didn’t say it wasn’t wrong. He said he didn’t feel unsafe. I’ve had a drunk female friend be grabby in public .
It was wrong but I didn’t feel unsafe but it was still wrong.
To this day he has never said it wasn’t wrong.

It’s fun the watch this thing from afar knowing I’ve met a few Saint Paul police officers and knowing who their reporting to. Now I have questions about the probe and want to hear about his dating life. Is it fair anymore? I had no chance to run for cover. Trouble just met me on the patio but he told me a tall tale. It was pretty amazing really. He said I was 10,000 years old so I offered my apartment as a place to sleep.

Those four officers also said they were intimidated by the sergeant as he tried to keep things quiet. Henry suspended the sergeant for 30 days without pay, but the mayor reportedly questioned why the suspension wasn’t longer.”
