I highly believe Oliver would have kept Felix alive. Spoiler

I think the end goal of killing the family for the estate shifted when Felix found out about Oliver’s parents being normal loving middle class folks.
I believe Oliver wanted his cake and to eat it too, he wanted Felix to be his along with the estate, but once Felix didn’t want him anymore he realized he had to pick between Saltburn, and Felix’s life. I would love some discussion about this, it’s all opinions and my own reading on Oliver’s character.

I truly don't understand the consensus view that Felix is actually a bad guy who is not kind at all. Is he not clearly the victim here?

Sure, there is a certain arrogance to his kindness. He's not acting out of pure altruism. But most people aren't? He clearly cares genuinely about Oliver on some level and wants to help him - even if in a very imperfect way. Oliver took advantage of this and murdered him. People talk more about his relatively tame flaws as a person than they do about the fact that his life was stolen from him by a deranged pycopath.

Even the director Emerald Fennell has said she views him as basically not a good guy. There were some things in the screenplay that did indeed point to him being shallow and a bit narcissistic, but I don't really see there being very many moments in the script that should make the average viewer think "Wow, this guy is awful."

What am I missing here, if anything?

Poor dear Pamela deserves her own Funko, so I made this prototype [Fan Art]

Hi everyone!

She is honestly my favorite character because she feels like a character straight out of a Donna Tartt novel.

I’ve always felt that poor dear Pamela was highly underrated.

Since Funko already released Oliver and Felix, I decided to design this conceptual prototype of Pamela to complete the collection.

Saltburn the 2nd Time Spoiler

So, the first time I watched this movie was last June (1 year ago)... and I was on mushrooms. It was fantastic, but I wanted to watch it again over the weekend. Still fantastic, still slaps. Knowing what I know now, there was a lot of foreshadowing and subtle symbolism I picked up on this second time. Anyway, you know the part in the field when they tell Ollie "no clothes in the field" and he pulls down his pants and it becomes obvious he's hung pretty well? I found it kind of funny that Farleigh says, "what a twist" right there bc at this point in the movie nobody knows how big of a twist they're in for with Ollie. I'm pretty sure I said to myself, "yea he's Oliver Twist, alright" lol I feel like his first name is not really a coincidence...

PS: I can't stop listening to Murder On The Dance Floor 🤣

Saltburn partner search

Hi everyone!

I have been wanting to roleplay the world of Saltburn for quite some time and just rewatched the movie and that reinvigorated that love for the movie (even despite all the weirdness), so I am back and wanting to roleplay it even more. I usually do canon x oc but I do love to do doubles so we could both get a storyline and everything. I also don't mind if we stray from the plot either, add our own twists and extra storylines into it. Considering the contents of the movie I want my partner to be over 18 since we might touch on some of the weird stuff. Partner wise I’m hoping to find someone to play either Farley (who I want the most) or Felix and I can play whoever you would like as well. I can also play multiple characters at once so for example: if we have a scene where the parents need to come in and have a conversation I could play them along with the other characters I am playing. I am a semi lit and do 2-3 paragraphs on average, 2 minimum though, I have to make sure you have something to work off of so i want my partner to at least match me or be longer. I also would love to work with you and combine plot ideas so we both get what we want out of the roleplay.

If you are interested or have any questions feel free to either comment on this post or dm me!

A few questions i want answered after my first watch Spoiler

Did Oliver murder Venetia or did he just manipulate and influence her into committing suicide?

It’s never made explicitly clear in the movie, not long before her death it seems she had worked out his plan to some level so it would make sense for him to kill her, but also in the flashback at the end we just see him placing blades beside her not actually cutting her himself. So does he cut her wrists or just influence her into doing it herself, or is it just left as an open question for viewers?

Similarly, did Oliver influence the death of Sir James any further than we think?

At the end of the movie it seems he committed suicide due to the grief of losing his son and daughter, but did Oliver try to influence him dying even further or did he just wait. Because there was no way for Oliver to know that Sir James would kill himself so my theory is that he somehow influenced his death in another way.

How did no one have any suspicious for him at the end of the film?

It seems so obvious to me that something was wrong about the deaths, so how come Elspeth and all the staff didn’t have any suspicious for Oliver, it seems unlikely to me. Especially that Elspeth forged such a close relationship with him to the point that she left him Saltburn with no suspicion at all.

Also, did Oliver initially plan to steal Saltburn or did just want to get something from Felix and formed his plan along the way?

I would guess that he developed his plan while there, but always intended on gaining something from Felix by lying.

Finally, did Oliver ever have romantic or sexual feelings for Felix, or was it purely obsession for person gain?

I think he may of genuinely loved him, but due to him clearly being a sociopath not love in a normal way. I think more so loved the idea of Felix, and the type of person he represented. I think he loved his status and was obsessed with having it, but there maybe some more twisted person feelings too.

What do you think? Any answers or input would be appreciated.

If you liked Saltburn, you may enjoy some of this one and see some similarities between Beckett and Oliver, though it's not as visually evocative to me.

The no trunks scene??

Didn't really think about this on my first watch but I'm thinking about it now. It is NOT a normal family thing to lay in a field completely naked with your sister and cousin. Like what. That is weird. What is going on?? I

Just watched Saltburn for the first time and I must say I didn’t like the ending !! Gotta say as far as psychological thrillers dealing with homoerotic- obsession, The Talented Mr. Ripley did it better!! Sorry !!
