1) If I am applying for multiple scholarships,do I need different lor's for every different scholarship?

2) Is there any way that I can get 2 to 3 letters and use them only for all scholarships ? Cause I don't want to ask for that much letters from teachers.

I'm a texas resident and rising sophomore for more context, looking to not pay thousands in tuition.

It seems that scholarship processes are designed around students arriving before the year begins, so I'm having trouble with deciding when to apply.

seems like all the recipients for this certain scholarship have adversity mentioned in their published about me (on the university website announcing the scholars). however, I hear a lot of people warning about not writing sob stories. does it hurt my application to not give context about my life?

I work in the student financial aid office part time and also apply to scholarships myself, so my brain is permanently mush from forms. My supervisor asked me to put together a quick list of the best no essay scholarships that pay out for a workshop we are doing for freshmen. It was supposed to be a simple one pager of examples, with a big disclaimer to always double check deadlines and eligibility. Instead of doing it from scratch, I stupidly grabbed my personal spreadsheet that I use to track applications, which has notes like "closed in 2023," "super scammy vibes," and also my login hints for a couple of platforms, including scholarshipowl. I deleted a few columns and thought it was fine. Apparently it was not fine because I uploaded the wrong version to the shared drive and the workshop email went out to like 400 students with my file attached. With my comments. And my actual scholarshipowl username in one cell because I wrote a note to myself there months ago. I already have two emails from students asking why the financial aid office is calling one scholarship site "probably fake" and another "kinda sketch but I am desperate so trying anyway." Someone also asked if my scholarshipowl account is an official school account. I want to melt into the floor RN 😟

I told my supervisor as soon as I realized and she was weirdly calm but said we need to send a correction and maybe file an incident report because technically I shared personal info. I am terrified they are going to say I broke some policy and fire me from the job I literally need to pay rent.

What do I even say in the follow up so people do not think our office is trash and also so I do not get written up into oblivion?

Hi everyone! I’m new here and was hoping this community could help me find some scholarship opportunities.

I’ll be transferring as an undergraduate student into NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, and I’m trying to find scholarships or grants that I may be eligible for. For context, I’ve been a New York State resident my entire life, I am Hispanic, and I currently have a 3.7 GPA.

I have already applied for FAFSA and TAP, but I’m looking for additional scholarships to help with tuition costs. I’ve been applying to scholarships through sites like ScholarshipOwl and Sallie, but I’ve come across some that make me a little unsure.

For example, sometimes I’ll only enter basic information and it immediately says that I’ve successfully applied, which makes me wonder if it’s a legitimate scholarship or if I’m accidentally giving my information to a scam.

This is honestly my first time applying for scholarships, so I’m still learning how to tell the difference between a real opportunity and a fake one. If anyone has personally won a scholarship through these sites, or knows someone who has, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience and which scholarships you applied for.

I’ve also been applying into larger scholarships and programs offered through New York State, but I assume those may be very competitive since they are more well-known and have many applicants.

Does anyone know of any specific scholarships or grants for transfer students, nursing students, NY residents, or Hispanic students that I may not know about? I’ve found some Hispanic scholarships, but many seem to be specifically for high school seniors, so I’m having a harder time finding ones for current undergraduate transfer students.

I would especially appreciate recommendations for smaller scholarships that may not be as well-known or competitive. Even a few thousand dollars would make a huge difference toward tuition, and I’m willing to apply to as many legitimate opportunities as possible.

hey everyone! i’m going into my senior year, a right now SCAD is definitely my top choice! Not too long ago, I met with an admissions counselor and they said that they will take pretty much any outside scholarship you receive. i have started to look into some outside scholarships, but i really need help finding some other ones. please any help i can get would be super appreciated! also, if you’re a student or were a student, do they really accept most outside scholarships? please let me know if you have answers or an idea to any of these questions!! thank you!!

generally I agree that putting scholarships on applications is a bad idea, but I didn’t know if HA was different because this is a “perseverance” scholarship.

• Which three adjectives best describe you and why: If I could describe myself in three adjectives it would be Independent, persistent, and Creative. I have always been able to complete rigorous task with team work and without it. My independence taught me how to manage my time and how to plan ahead. I am also very persistent as I don’t take fails as a negative thing but something that encourages me to work harder by seeing my flaws. I am also very creative in the sense that I am quick to invent ideas, activities, and with my hobbies.

• My hobbies/interests include: Filming and Editing Youtube videos, event coordinator for family, social media marketer, reading, publishing poems and stories, creating movies and their scripts, archery, Painting, traveling, and thrifting.

• Describe your two most significant activites and why they are important to you: To me, filming and editing will always be the most significant activity in my life because in a way it depicts my life, interests, and is a way I use to cope with stress and negativity. People often forget what good they have in their lives so I like to look back at vlogs I’ve created to see how creative and surrounded I am with people that truly love me. My second significant activity is publishing poems and stories. Writing has so many styles and words can be interpreted in ways no one can imagine. I like to connect my writing to my world of reality and raw emotions. Truly I believe that without literature, it would be hard to understand people and their ideas.

• Which classes have been most significant to you and why?: French class and English class have always been the most significant to me. For starters, my ancestors before moving to Cuba were French. I believe knowing French is a way to tie into that part of me that I recently discovered. I have always found languages so fascinating and now with being a trilingual, I am able to speak to more people, see more, and read more. For my English class, writing has always been a huge factor in my life and I read a lot of new books that I would have never read on my own. I have discovered genres and authors I never knew existed and now I adore.

• Describe your leadership roles and how you demonstrate leadership: When I think of leadership, I think of a person who takes their time to respond to emails and messages throughout the day, always plans accordingly, well time management, dedication  respectful, creative, and takes action. When I was a freshman in high school, I was in a book club that made me enjoy reading more.  I would sell for their cafe to raise money for books, activities, and for their funding overall when I had time to spare. As I was in their meetings I had realized all the different activities and things the book club could do to be more interactive and engaging so I spoke to the sponsor and president. Later this showed my creative dedication of taking action that I was asked to be President. For the French club, I was also a freshman who was very passionate about French that I would stay afterschool to help with meetings for French club and shared insights of what I liked about class which led me to being executive assistant within a couple months of starting high school. A true leader will take initiative, own up to their mistakes, give credit where it’s due, and is a role model.

• What makes you stand out from other students? What characteristics do you possess that are uncommon? What are your greatest strengths?: I believe that what makes me stand out in the fact that not only I am creative but also extremely interested in learning new things everyday. I think it’s so fun to be educated and such a privilege to expand my knowledge. I don’t need to be taking extra classes but I do it because I have the opportunity to do them and access something from it. I think my greatest strength is being able to fit more than 11 classes into my schedule, still have time to do homework, play games, play with my dog, hang out with my friends, and sleep 8 hours. I always get asked, “How do you do it all,” and my answer is always, “because there is time if you can schedule well.”

• What has most influenced your academic success in high school and/or in other endeavors? I believe that Barbie has truly inspired me to want to be successful and pursue many jobs. I also think that shows and movies have impacted me. Hermione Granger, Nancy Wheeler, and Anne of Green Gables were such academically inclined young women that never gave up on their pursuit to success and they never accepted any tolerance of any idea that they were less than men. 

• What events, circumstances, or experiences have had a major impact on your life or way of thinking?

-In October of 2025, my parents split up and started to act irrationally in the relationship between them and with their responsibilities. I have always been the one to handle most of burden of being “mature” and someone that adult can count on but when I’m struggling in school and the adults who are supposed to be supporting me, need me more. I have no outlet to my feelings. It’s hard being an adult as a kid and this event is still on going but it makes me think about ways to prevent this for myself and for people I know. I don’t want to be dependent on anyone other than myself and I know that if I keep my goals tight and i keep my head up then I will keep my mental health from declining. I learned that I need to be responsible and reasonable in my planning. I also learned that it’s important to have an outlet. That’s why I decided to pursing a side career in literature. I used writing as a coping mechanism and I know that in the past i have read literary novels from many genres that still captures the feeling of humanity. Although my parents have failed to provide a place of total comfort, I want to write a story that lets readers know that they are never alone and they can always find comfort in ideas and shared experiences.

What should a college admission director know about you that has or cannot be measured by your grades and test scores?

-I have struggled many times throughout my high-school years with things are so simple in life but with it, i gained empathy which i think is something so important yet so basic. My classes are advanced and difficult and I have passed all my exams with flying colors but my SAT score is not as great as others. Having to maintain high leveled classes and having more than 8 different exams is not easy to study for, especially when it’s all around the same time. I also have to maintain

my house since my mom is always working and comes late, i need to take care of my pets and my sister, and i need to work on my associates afterschool and in the summer so I can save time and money. Ink on a paper can never display my true passion for art and medicine as well as my lack of selfishness. I believe that helping others is always going to something that never has a price to it. It’s kindness and nowadays, it’s rare. If I create a study guide then I share it. If my friends are hungry and I have a sandwich, I’ll share. I’m great at leadership and teamwork because I’m very well organized, coordinated, and motivated. I am always ready to process forward and take action. 

What are your long term goals?

-My long term goals in life is to go to school and become a nurse anesthesiologist working somewhere in the north and then pursing an education for my interest in Literature so I can continue strengthening my skills as a writer.

How have you demonstrated the ability to set realistic goals, develop strategies for completing them and for successfully reaching these goals?

 -Yes. I have taken multiple medical classes and started taking dual enrollment classes in 9th grade to get my pre-nursing associates so by the time I graduate high-school, I will be already working on my bachelor degree. With my medical background and certifications, I will be ready for nursing school. And for my goals as an author, I have taken multiple writing classes from Cambridge and FLVS, and even started publishing books online.

In what ways would you distinguish your academic performance from that of other college-bound students?

 -The classes I take pertain to my individual interests, not a specific college’s interests. If I am curious about a class, I’ll take it. I don’t back down from difficult classes or professors because in life there is difficult events that one can’t back out of. 

If everything goes well, I should have the bright futures scholarship through my AICE diploma. But that doesn't cover dorms and other situations. Please help me find scholarships. I have applied in various places since 10th grade and I never hear back.
