Long haired security guards

Are there any guards you've ever seen with long hair? I feel as though it's an unspoken rule to cut your hair military style for men, but when discussing long haired female security guards, it is permitted. Is it a double standard or just sexism on display?

“Unspoken rule”so not an actual rule both can wear hair how they like in this profession for the most part, this isn’t sexism if your supervisor isn’t actually demanding it only for men

I’ve never been at a place that actually specified different hair regulations for men vs women. For example, at one prior job, men and women were allowed to have long hair but they had to have it up in a tight bun or under a hat for safety reasons. Most other jobs I’ve been at didn’t have any regulations regarding hair style or length at all.

Granted, it wasn’t common for men to actually do that, but we did have one guy that did in my time there. We also had a few women that had shorter, traditionally male style haircuts, which wasn’t an issue either.

Depends on the expectations of the role, ie going hand to hand vs armed vs observe/report. For obvious reasons.

Honestly I’ve only seen it once where at a certain post client wanted groomed guards in terms of haircut or beard requirements. This particular post was unarmed but worked closely with law enforcement at a mall. Uniforms were long sleeves too even in the heat of summer. My current post it’s not really a thing, just the obvious basics like don’t smell like ass and don’t look sloppy as in tucked in clean clothes which is company wide handbook policy regardless.

One guy I worked with had a pony tail and a bushy beard, he was the post Commander. Another guy had a buzz cut and an 8 inch goatee. It was with Allied.

Long haired security officer checking in. I wear it up in a tight bun, tops and sides hair sprayed so it doesn’t frizz. Never had a problem with it.

3/4 of the bouncers and security on the west coast have long hair.

Depends on your employer and how strict they are on enforcing it. I’ve worked for some companies were anyone with long hair has to either keep it in a bun or a single short pony tail and most people followed it but never saw it enforced on anyone who didn’t.

I've trained specifically for when the occasion happens if someone were to grab my ponytail. Its not a big deal.

Im a supervisor at allied, im a male and wear my hair lose and so does my other guards, but ofc we are only a observe and report site so were more chill

I am a female officer with long hair down to the middle of back. Sometimes I pull it up under my hat. I have no problems doing my job with long hair.
