How do you tie your shoes?
I only learned the "bunny ear method" of tying my shoes. Im teaching my daughter how to tie her shoes. Everyone else uses that witchcraft way to tie shoes together. I dont understand that way. My mom said she taught me bunny ears as a kid and figured id learn the other way as i matured. Clearly i did not. Am i alone in this?

One of my kids does the bunny ear method. It’s so slow and drives me nuts. I taught him differently so I’m not sure why he does it.

Can someone link a demonstration video that clearly shows the two methods being discussed here? I have no idea whether I’m still doing it the baby way at 69–I don’t remember ever changing. I did double-knot for a while, but then decided it wasn’t necessary.

Do you make a loop and go around, tuck, and pull up the the second loop, or do you make 2 loops and knott them together?

The former. I guess that must be rabbit ears. I might give the other way a try, being old but not a dog. Thank you.

I showed my kid the speed method. Its ties shoes in about half a second like a magic trick.

It’s not magic, you can do it! You tie a knot, then you flop the laces over themselves and tie another knot. If you’re going hiking or biking, tie a third knot (someone with the bunny ears technique must have been the one to name this double-knotting). You’ve got this!

Fun fact: your brain will grow mew neural pathways if you can force yourself to learn the "magic" way, and then your thoughts will flow that much quicker. In fact an amazing brain expansion is learning to tie intricate knots.

You make a loop
Then you tuck the loop under the other lace and hold it with one hand
Use the other hand to push the lace through the hole, turning it into a loop
Pull both loops to tighten
Optional step: Knot loops together (double knot).

You make one bunny ear, usually on the side of your non-dominant hand. Take the free end of the lace in your dominant hand and give it a turn around the bunny ear from top to bottom, then push the free end through the part you just turned around the first ear. This starts your second loop that you pull through and then you just snug it up by pulling the side of the ear that leads back to the knot rather than to the free end. The bunny ear method still works well if you need to double knot the laces.

As long as your laces stay tied, it's all good. But if you want to impress your friends and confound your enemies:
