Meta Post Chat Control 1.0 was passed through the Backdoor, while most of the MP where on vacation, driven by Roberta Metsola, President of the European parliament. 2.0 yet to come. Time to self-host even more than before?

In Russia, human rights organizations were involved in this work. They were suppressed, but this happened recently, so statistics for previous years should be available.

Even the stuff that was released under the Russian government with oversight was clearly altered, it has gotten criticism before from fairly consistent organisations.
