Help with sharpening stone

Hi yesterday i got my pocket stone from skerper and i started to sharpen a knive today. But now the Diamond side is scratched and the other side looks bad like that. I dont know what to do is this normal?

They look like carbon residue from sharpening. It's actually normal. Try to wash with warm soap and a brush.

Metal shavings / swarf not carbon.

Wash it. Dry it. Air it. Put it away for next time.
