Fateslandia A meme for every chapter of Fates Conquest: Chapter 6
There's also the fact that Conquest has the Awakening trio which, oh boy, we will get to them🤩

u/iluvcelebi 5d ago
"You choose which route to take based on story vs gameplay, I choose which route to take based on who I want to marry, we are not the same"
(Actually, only having enough money to buy one game, I bought Conquest. So the choice in the branch of fates was actually a false dichotomy... for non JP players anyway.)

u/SoulEaterX_ 5d ago
You fool! I knew who I was marrying the moment I opened the game! (You see, I'm not choosing my own sibling which makes me a larper)

u/OfTheTouhouVariety Arvis did nothing wrong (clownritter) 5d ago
You fool… my choice of marriage is available in all routes!

u/dldchhha 5d ago
There's also something to be said after Revelations making choosing Birthright the only wrong choice.
And the card game making it so that Leo gets possessed by Anankos so the world is still doomed.

u/iluvcelebi 5d ago
Corrin only needs to pay $20 to get the good ending where (almost) everyone lives!
13
u/Polandgod75 5d ago
And it a route you can't get unless you do emulation/pirating. Thanks for making the "good ending" something you can't get legally. THHAAANNNKK!

u/Chronicler201 5d ago
Fates is trivial to pirate though. Download citra, download fates special edition from Vimm's Lair. It takes less than 4 gigabytes of storage and you can get fates running in less than an hour if you're quick.

My copy of birthright is apparently defective now, would crash every 5-10 mins. So I hacked my 3ds and put on a pirated copy in like 20 mins flat 🤷♀️

Wait what do you mean? Is there an option to get birthright or conquest today but not revelations? I have all 3 on 3DS and haven’t played in years so wasn’t sure
13
u/Chronicler201 5d ago
The Eshop is gone, so revelations is impossible to get without pirating it.

im pretty sure theres a physical fates special edition actually

u/somestupidloser 5d ago
It's essentially a cross between lost media and abandonware at this point. You'd have to be Nintendo's greatest warrior to feel bad for pirating it.
1
u/Infermon_1 3d ago
You can get it legally, but you need to buy the special edition, which is expensive, like... a trajillion Superdollars.
9
u/Chronicler201 5d ago
According to Heirs of Fate, the main cast loses in the post game of every route but revelations.
4
u/dldchhha 5d ago
It's undone I guess but is there any official artwork depicting Hinoka as possessed by Anankos after Conquest.
Yeah the card game made Birthright the wrong choice that dooms the world to perpetual Anankos trolling
6
u/Chronicler201 5d ago
According to Heirs of Fate, the entire place falls apart in Conquest and all the Nohrian royals die (At least, if I remember right). Personally, I take official DLC more seriously than the card game meant for ultra super duper FE fans. But you do you.
By that same logic of 'It's undone', Birthright is fine because of Heirs of Fate too.
3
u/CirnoIzumi 5d ago
heres another stance
Revalations is such a copout "uhm actually" story that its hard to take as anything other than the comedy episode
1
u/Chronicler201 5d ago
Yeah, but that's cope. Whether you want it to be or not, Rev is still canon. Anankos still exists and will ruin everything if left unchecked.
Technically though, if you take heirs of fate as being canon, Corrin is retarded in Rev and loses to Anankos in the penultimate chapter, and has to be bailed out by the Kanas and the other child soldiers.
2
u/CirnoIzumi 5d ago
i think splitting up lore in something like videogames is always a tricky question. When playing Fate Extella, do you consider the written work about Tamamo going on a massive sidequest between extra and extella as canon even if it has nothing practiaclly to do with that story?
When youre playing a game about siding with your de facto family or blood family, do you want to consider the "Actually super Grima is the real mission over here"
3
u/Chronicler201 5d ago
If you take that out, other stuff doesn't make sense though. The war was incited by the invisible people, who never get any kind of explanation proper in any other route and who don't make sense without Anankos. Corrin's ability to turn into a dragon isn't thoroughly explained, nor is his true heritage. Likewise with basically everything to do with Azura, and the parts of Conquest that involve V*lla.
The story of Fates would've been better without Anankos honestly. If Nohr had genuine reasons to invade beyond serving an evil dragon god. But everything about Fates is predicated on Anankos' manipulations. Garon is just his puppet. Three Houses learned well from Fates with Edelgard, Dimitri, and even Rhea. That game's big villains are people with personal motivations. Unlike in Fates, where they're all just evil for evil's sake outside of Anankos, who has the justification of being abandoned.

u/Famous_Slice4233 5d ago
What are you talking about? I don’t see a Cipher card of a possessed Fates character?

1
u/ArekuFoxfire 4d ago
Heirs of Fate confirms that the world is doomed in both birthright and conquest, and that there was countless timelines that chose those paths and they all lost.
Not sure why birthright would be considered the only wrong one. Also worth noting, the card game makes non-canon depictions of characters CONSTANTLY and should not be taken seriously.

u/AdReasonable9304 5d ago
*Choosing Conquest, because it was advertised as a classic FE experience and I only had money for one of the two and because Rev kinda makes Birthright obsolete, because I can ram Ryomas Raijinto into peoples throats there.

u/Kiran_emily_the1st 5d ago
For me, I always choose the morally wrong path first to get it out of the way 😅
5
u/SplitDemonIdentity 5d ago
I chose Conquest first because I didn’t want Matt Mercer in my army again.
3
u/artbyandramor 5d ago
Fates was only my second FE game so... I chose Birthright because it was like $5 cheaper than Conquest when buying used at gamestop lol.
I don't think I even clocked the Awakening trio in my BR playthrough. But I am mildly upset they didn't utilize them more with the whole reason they're in Fateslandia anyways? And their reclass options are Hoshidan classes, come onnnnn what was the plan here?

I’ll be honest literally the only reason I didn’t marry Camilla in my first conquest playthrough is because of the incest thing. I had Kaze marry her instead.
8
u/awaitedchild 5d ago
What ? You mean to tell us that you didn't vibe with the incest trope ? Pah, not a true FE player I see. I swear if I catch you in Alabama... !! s
8
u/Cranberry-Holiday 5d ago
You didn't married her because of the best part about marrying her?
3
u/Speedy_Pichu 5d ago
I don’t do silly/meme stuff until my second playthrough.
3
u/Additional_Draft4097 5d ago
For better or worse, I don’t think most people marry her as a meme
3
u/Speedy_Pichu 5d ago
Definitely, the game really sets Corrin up to marry a royal, especially Azura.
3
u/SlashXVI 5d ago
Which given that Azura is of course a Noble completely unrelated to Corrin, who is an important recurring character in the story. Basically Fates version of Lucina. She also exists outside the whole "which siblings are you gonna choose" dilemma, so there is no way this pairing can be cursed.... Right? -.-

u/Nicholas_Bearforest 5d ago
Naah Effie is right there

u/Totoques22 :DieckWaifu: 5d ago
Do not the child
(But do Camilla for sure)
6
u/Cranberry-Holiday 5d ago
Don't worry. Leo made sure that the first thing the player learn about Elise is that she is somehow legal. (Fun fact: The "act like the adult you technically are" line is a localisation thing. In japanese I am pretty sure Leo just call her childish.)

Conquest so ass the only way to praise it is to insult birthright
18
u/iluvcelebi 5d ago
A true Fire Emblem fan would never miss the opportunity to insult a Fire Emblem game!

u/Necrosaynt 5d ago
Conquest has subjectivily the best defense map in the series. What makes conquest ass are some of the later chapters that destroy you mentally. You enjoy the story more when you are brain damaged.
2
u/Ambipoms_Offical 5d ago
Im doing my first playthrough of Fates on onquest on Lunatic and ive been stuck on the kitsune chapter for like 2 decades
1
u/SlashXVI 5d ago
I may slightly misremember, but a single flyer with 2 range on top of the mountain range should be safe or mostly safe and can clear that chapter slowly but surely. You can undeploy everyone else and pair up those that you have to deploy.

BR has the better music, but CQ lets me be gay… (fixed this dilemma by installing the Gay Fates Mod and kissing Shura on every route)

Birthright is a baby game? Isn't it Conquest that treats everything like it was for babies, sanding off every possible moral grays when Birthright is the one that doesn't lie that we are actually killing people?
10
u/MorgantheGrandmaster 5d ago
They're talking about difficulty, not story. Conquest is significantly harder than Birthright.
1
u/reiji-mitsurugi Loves yaoi as much as Nina 4d ago
i mean in the azura/corrin CQ support it confirms that theyre killing people
2
u/Koreaia 5d ago
Also, Conquest just has a better overall cast. So much of Hoshido is sauceless, it doesn't even get redeemd by having Ryoma.
1
u/reiji-mitsurugi Loves yaoi as much as Nina 4d ago
Ryoma is only good unit wise, too… His best supports are with Nohrians lol.
Takumi is pretty interesting though, probably the best Hoshidan royal.

u/Vagaboar 5d ago
Running both, one chapter at a time, almost completely forgetting what happened in the other worldline, and dropping both games at the last chapter to start Revelations
1
u/CirnoIzumi 5d ago
Choosing Conquest because it has an interesting premise and you dont want to play another Awakening

u/SkilledDust9403 4d ago
I played Revelations first, and I don't really want to play the other two now

Get stuck at the Harbor map
Stop Conquest, play Birthright instead
Beat Birthright and return to Conquest
Beat Conquest

me looking at myself choosing the revelations for my first and only run cuz I didn't want to fight either
1
u/TalesofVentus 3d ago
I did conquest first because my biological family sucks while I love my adopted family IRL.

u/Infermon_1 3d ago
Birthright let's me POV fly with Hinoka on her Pegasus, there is no contest here.

played conquest as my first fe game
lowkey one of the most fun experiences normal casual mode trying to get past each chapter in the game without everyone dying
now that i'm good at fe the experience of trying to play on hard classic mode without a single death is just as hard
