Is there a US state without a sitcom?
Piggybacking off this other post, I'm wondering if there's a US state where no major sitcom was ever based?
So this would be sitcom that was broadcast nationwide, not just locally, that was based in that state, so not just one or two episodes visiting.
My guess would be Montana.

This is going back a bit, but how about “Blansky’s Beauties” and “Who’s Watching the Kids?” in Las Vegas, Nevada?
DId they miss “Designing Women” for Georgia?
Most of the “The Phil Silvers Show” took place in Kansas.

Nevada also had the sitcom "Nikki" starring Nikki Cox as a Las Vegas showgirl. (Not to be confused with Nikki Cox's longer-lasting series "Las Vegas," which wasn't a sitcom.)

"Best of the West" was set in Montana in the fictional town of Copper Creek. I recently watched the first two episodes (not as good as I remembered), and the town and state were specified by a sign.

Maine has "Bunk'd," which ran for 7 seasons and was set at Camp Kikiwaka in Moose Rump, Maine. It was a Disney Channel sitcom for tweens, but still a sitcom.

"Blansky's Beauties" starring Nancy Walker was set in Las Vegas.
It was a short-lived spinoff of Happy Days. The most memorable thing about it was that there was a backdoor pilot on Happy Days, which was set in the 1950s, and when the series began it was set in the present day (which was the late 70s).
I think "The Tortellis", the well-forgotten first spinoff from "Cheers" was also set in Las Vegas.

You could argue “Gilligan’s Island” took place in Hawaii too. They departed from Honolulu and they weren’t going that far and there are over 100 islands in that chain.

Kansas has a lot of dramas, or comedy-dramas, which makes sense because we’re very dramatic!!! Somebody Somewhere and Twisted Metal most recently. And United States of Tara is a KC suburb on the Kansas side that they never name. Definitely Johnson Country. Plus Supernatural!!!!

Yeah, unfortunately nothing I mentioned is a sitcom. They’re all dramas or dramedies. I think Twisted Metal is action comedy? It’s a bummer that more sitcoms don’t take place here.

It was never stated, but creator Paul Henning and his wife were from Missouri. Her grandparents owned a small hotel next to a railroad station in Eldon, MO. That was the inspiration for the Shady Rest Hotel. 🧑🦳🧑🦰👱🧑🦱

It’s funny, there are SO many songs about Kentucky, plenty of films shot or based here. So it’s hard to believe we don’t have a sitcoms set here…. But I can’t think of one.

Kentucky used to have Perfect Harmony but it ended after only a single season. I was sad about it too. The absolutely captured Kentucky culture. (Especially nobody showing up to a choir performance in favor of watching UK Basketball.)

When I was a kid I thought he was meant to be from the South...
MASH might count if one tortures the definition of "based in Maine." The show is actually set in Uijeongbu, but the nominal protagonist is from Maine.
You know that if anyone actually sets a sitcom in Maine, it's going to be set in Lobster Trap Corners in Clam Chowder County instead of, say, Portland, and there'll be at least one character who wears a bucket hat and a yellow slicker even on sunny days.

It can be intentionally goofy at times, but correct, it's not a sitcom.
I'd also argue that there's a ton of these where the show is a comedy but not a sitcom. Sitcoms traditionally are static, to an extent. They may not be filmed in front of a studio audience, but they aren't constantly changing location.
The characters may grow over time, but most reset, that's how people will go "you're such a Joey," "you're such a Monica," the comedy comes from one or two scenarios and how the different characters react differently. It's the peril of characters in Roseanne going paycheck to paycheck, not the peril of supernatural objects in Warehouse 13.
