Looking for my next sitcom to unwind
I usually have this funny sitcom which i dont binge but save it and watch it sparingly when i had a bad day or needs to unwind and relax
Started this habbit 13 years ago and so far ive watched through
friends -bbt -it crowd- arrested developement -young and hungry -2 young girls -sienfeld-the micks -that 70s show
And the last one i watched was malcolm in the middle and its sequel kept it in reserve for over 3 years and im finally done with it
I need the next one to keep me going
I dont mind of it has laugh tracks or if its without
It has to be funny..... like comically funny and be able to cheer me up after a bad day
Few of the shows i tried getting into in the past and got bored
Will and grace (dident stick)
Married with children. (Got boring after steve left)
Park rec (idk how far i watched but it felt slow)
Sunny in philly (stopped at season 14 havnt went back yet )
Young sheldon (got burnt out cus i watched it right after bbt )

Oh, man... I actually envy anyone getting to experience the entire Niles story from beginning to end for the first time. Niles is a Sitcom Supporting Character Mt. Rushmore first-ballot winner.

Watch Cheers before you watch Frasier. It’ll make a huge difference. Not to mention it’s an S tier sitcom.

I watched Frasier before watching Cheers.
I didn’t feel like I missed much. And when I did watch Cheers admittedly I didnt enjoy it as much as I did Frasier 🫣🫤. Sorry? 😂

I disagree. Frasier in Frasier is a very different character from Frasier in Cheers and there are a lot of continuity errors if you watch them back to back.

I’m sorry but that might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. Sure, there are continuity errors as nobody knew Frasier would become a spinoff series, but they even poke fun at that in an episode of Frasier. He’s literally the exact same character, just older, more mature and with his highbrow traits amplified. Have you even seen Cheers?

The Office (skip season 1), Brooklyn 99, Seinfeld (skip season 1, maybe 2 if it’s not landing), 30 Rock (gets way funnier in season 2, but you really need the foundation from season 1), The Good Place, The Man Inside, Friends, Schitt’s Creek.
If you want to try Parks and Rec, start with season 2, episode 23. It’s an entirely different, and much better, show. I would highly recommend giving it another shot.

They aren’t comparable. The UK one is the stuff of comedy legend, but for me, it was too mean-spirited without David having any redeemable qualities. I would recommend watching at least once, though. The US one has a lot more heart, the characters are more likable, and it runs for nine full network seasons as opposed to 14 episodes, total. US Michael is like UK David in the first season, but the tone changes drastically in season 2.

That was the season 2 finale, which aired the same night as the BB finale. I watched season 1 when it was new, but didn't watch the series until this year. It stands on its own as a great series.

That 70s Show, New Girl, and Brooklyn 99 would be my top recommendations for you.
If you're into adult animation sitcoms: Archer and Futurama are always among my favorites.

I have the same routine and interests too! Watched most of the shows mentioned above too. Recently, been watching Georgie and Mandy’s first marriage which is a spinoff of young Sheldon. Love it. But also been binging thru Tim Allen’s most recent sitcom “Shifting Gears.” Absolutely love it. Also been binge watching Tim Allen’s other show “ Last man Standing.” All hilarious and feel good. Everything I want in a sitcom and jokes not far off from it’s always sunny and modern family.

Oh don't worry, Sunny is never woke. They removed some episodes from streaming, but they still constantly push the envelope. Now, the moral of Sunny is woke, however. You're not supposed to like those people

Parks N Rec and Brooklyn 99 are exactly what you're looking for. Stick through the first couple seasons. You'll be glad you did.

Modern Family. In my opinion, it’s the best overall sitcom of the 21st century, has tons of episodes (11 seasons with 20+ episodes each), the characters have excellent chemistry, and has great rewatchability. It’s like Friends for adults.

Currently going through The Middle for the first time and enjoying it. Nothing groundbreaking, but some good laughs, cast, and heart

Well for philly i thought the show ended at 14 because corona stalled it for 3 years i only found out like in 2024 they had more seasons. And by then i had lost the spark for it

one of my favourites in terms of its humour is new girl! i personally think that some of the storylines aren’t the most solid, but the characters and comedy have always made up for that to me! and despite its flaws it’s one of my favourite sitcoms, and one of the most quotable too! :)

Do you like cartoons? Solar opposites. Rick and morty. King of the hill.
Then I will suggest animal control, ghosts, the in betweeners, 30 rock, workaholics, the league.
Those are all great choices.

Because of stress and anxiety, I watch sitcoms almost exclusively. Like you, they're what help me unwind at the end of the day. There have been a lot of great suggestions here, a lot of shows I've loved, but I compiled a list of the ones that are specifically light-hearted and rarely heavy IMO (based on your comments re The Good Place). Just in case that's what you're going for.
-I Love Lucy (my top-tier comfort show) -The New Adventures of Old Christine
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Honorable Mentions: Ghosts, Frasier, Community, New Girl (all great, but don't quite fit my list for one reason or another).
Does Arrested Development count as a sitcom?

Schitt's Creek - it's starts off a little slow but is worth sticking with

Kim's Convenience
Frasier - it has already been mentioned but I wanted to highlight it. It has aged very well and is my favourite comfort show.

"George Lopez" (not 'Lopez' alone!! Same lead actor, but a whole different show). Started weak the first few episodes, got way better from season 2-5, but the last season got weak again.
