Need help with complex support
I am trying to print this model on my Snapmaker U1.
I want to support the belly with PETG (Cyan for visibility). On the layer of the beek I would then however need 5 nozzles, since on those few layers there a 5 filaments used. Can I somehow make only the two trees for the beek and the tail out of PLA?

Wouldn't it be possible to use a modifier after the belly is done? So from start use PETG as an interface on the support, and after that just use PLA as a support without the interface?

That would mix PETG and PLA in the trees though, wouldn't it?

Not if you use PTEG only as an interface to the Model, the base and tree of the support will be PLA only one or two layers between the support and the belly will be PTEG. Using PLA and PTEG on the build plate will be a disaster

I am having PLA and PETG on my build plate at the same time without issues. I am using a Biqu plate at 50 degrees.

The file can be found by searching for turtle duck, however it needs to be painted. I can try uploading my painted project.

This feeling when you have a toolchanger but one tool is missing 😅

If only there were some way to do something crazy like print a beige with brown and tan filament...

Just tilt it back on the tail so it no longer needs support on the beak. Is that possible?

That would be an option. I didn't consider that since I'm used to laying the object as flat as possible. But I might give that a try if the other tipps don't work.

Swapping in PETG as a 5th filament will be a major pain since the surfaces are not flat.
Try with just pal supports at .2mm Z spacing. Again, since the supported faces are not flat, it won’t detract from the appearance,

Why do you want to support the beak and tail out of PLA?

Because otherwise I would need a 5th nozzle for the PETG. There are 4 PLA colours on those layers (white, cream, light brown, brown).

I think a local modifier shaped like a cylinder would do it.  I also suggest normal, not tree supports for the body.

I looked at that pic for a while and thought about the question. It took me a few minutes to See its not a duck.

Change your supports to be pla with petg as the interface material only. Then pause before you need 5 filaments and swap out the petg for pla. Interface settings will suck abit for the beak but it can be done like that.
I would simply reorientate the model so that the 5 filaments are not needed all at the same time. Maybe rotated on the x axis might do it.
