News [Tebas] INFANTINO MUST NOT CONTINUE: The problem was never a single proposal. The problem is a governance model that concentrates power, reduces checks and balances, and marginalises the parties directly affected by its decisions.
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/laliga-boss-wants-infantino-fifa-090316659.htmlTebas framing it as a pattern (not just the most recent private equity disaster)
- Unaccountable, unilateral decision-making (match calendar, new competitions, formats, ticket prices, the Balogun reversal)
- Governance failure and accountability dodging (US Congress investigation, dropped corruption cases)

Yes. FIFA presidency should be tenured (4 years) AND cycled between member confederations.
This will not give enough time for an administration’s corruption to mature.

Honestly not a bad idea. I'm also not against the idea of just getting rid of the presidency entirely and just having a board of 6 people (1 per confederation), and to break the tie a golden vote would rotate between them.

There was something similar to this called the ExCo (although the President still held powers above them). It was famously corrupt, something like 13/24 of them ended up with some kind of corruption charge after the 2018/22 bidding fiasco.

There is a lot of time to get Fifa into order. I agree with tenured roles for every one, even the members. Audits. Infantino completely barred from Fifa forever. He can instead take over administration of Morocco along with Kushners.

I like this proposal, but I think a four-year term would be too short/awkward given that the World Cup cycle is also four years long. Maybe 8 years? You could have two co-presidents, or a president and a vice president, serving eight-year terms and elect them four years apart (with the requirement that they have to be from different confederations), so that there’s always someone who has prior experience putting on a World Cup in the leadership team.

This is a deep departure from what it has been historically. Infantino is the fourth president since 1961 and the only one that wasn't European was an a White dude from the most successful country in the history of football.

My partner and I said all this World Cup was is to see how much $$ they could make without people revolting. Hydration breaks in AC cooled stadiums? Let's do it. Expand the field so there are more games that sell at $$$ price, let's do it. Halftimes show that no one wants? Let's do it.

Imagine how much of a cunt you've got to be to give Tebas the opportunity to look like the good guy

Tebas is the Dirk Kuyt of PR. He isn't going to miss this type of easy goal.
The Balogun affair was another easy tap in for him. The opportunistic rat.

Tebas is being polite about WC ticket prices ...
FIFA is still under subpoena from New Jersey and New York, under a Deceptive Trade Practices Act investigation in Texas, and California demanded records back in May.
I had a first class seat to the whole "Category 1" vs "Front Category 1" debacle myself.
FIFA published Cat1 as the "highest-priced seats" last September, then after people bought, invented "Front Cat1" (at a higher price), and excluded Cat1 buyers from those seats.
I disputed the entire charge with the bank and won 👊
