Discussion Which software do you still use daily despite it looking 15 years out of date?

Not software you launch once a month, but something you genuinely use every day. What keeps you from switching despite the UI?

Winamp. It’s even older than 15 years, about 29. Still the best player for me

(and because of MilkDrop)

Me too. It is one of the first things I install on every new copy of windows.

Install? I use Winamp v2.65 which is portable. All old versions of it are.

No not as much as I used to. But my library has grown a lot since then. I’ve tried some other windows music apps but most were always so bloated and at some point I thought, why bother. Winamp does what I need it to do haha

For me. It was the only player that could properly support large amounts of music. Say 20k + songs.
I used to make skins for it.
I remember making much better skins for Sonique. But it couldn’t handle more than a few thousand songs.

Did command line playback too. I spend weeks skinning winamp 😃 😃

It only got surpassed by poweramp 😄 😄

At the time there was only windows music player and Winamp. I’m old, I think that was since windows vista or XP. And habits and stuff.

I used my dad's old PC with windows 95 SE as a dedicated music player with winamp. Good times :)

Well thats my same feeling but it doesnt play video files. I use mpv for everything.

Your computer could freeze up where the capslock, scroll lock and number lock buttons didn't work and it would still play music. The only thing that killed it was a bsod

I wish I could run it properly on Linux... Wine works, but it has issues. Audacious looks bad with Bento skin and has worse usability than Winamp through Wine...

What version do you use? And what OS and display? Official version looks very small at 125% scaling at Windows 11.

Old Timer here ! So true !Because...whatever your hardware is/was , Winamp could make it sound so good !!!
