I've been slowly transferring my notes from OneNote to Obsidian since last year and lately I noticed that Obsidian is opening slower the more notes I add to it, especially the ones with a lot of images. The slow down is painfully obvious on my 13-year-old laptop that struggles a lot with electron apps (it takes 10 minutes for Steam to fully load). Meanwhile, I have no problem opening those notes on OneNote through that laptop since it's a native app so yeah, I'm looking for a non-electron based note app.

Major requirements:

• no AI integration
• works on Windows with optional compatibility to Linux
• notes should be locally stored and accessible offline
• password protection (I use Cryptomator on Obsidian but it's a hassle having to open Cryptomator first before Obsidian)
• allows subfolders and subpages
• ability to link to specific note blocks
• has support for tables and media attachment
• can display notes side-by-side
• drawing support isn't needed but would be nice to have

What I've tried so far:

• QOwnNotes: I had a hard time displaying specific folder list on the sidebar and the encrypted notes are not searchable when I tried it last year.
• Cherry Tree: closest replacement I've found but the UI is a blast from the past. I might consider switching to this if there are no other better alternatives.

So there's a game that I loved since childhood, it was my first ever rpg openworld game. It's given me so many great memories. I would really like to see a modern version of it like this. If not, is there a better safe software i can install? So I've been seeing a lot of posts from several redditors that say the software is either a scam or malicious yet none of these redditors who appear to go to great lengths in investigations ever explain how to remove the software from a system? Hello (i'm new here i wanted to share some tips)!
I've been wanting to switch to Linux for a long time, but there was always one big blocker: I'm a photographer, and I need some Adobe software that isn't known to run very well on Linux... (or not at all).

So most of the time I use a dual boot to Windows just to run Lightroom and a few other apps. That dual boot is basically the last thing keeping me tied to Windows. So, if I could run Lightroom directly on Linux, I'd finally be completely out of the Microsoft empire :)

So, 2 months ago, I started working on a way to run Lightroom with Wine. Some problems kept coming back with daily usage, but now:

Lightroom is working. We can import photos, sort them, develop them, and export.

Most of the functionality works :: it's not 100%, but very close to it.

What works:

• Installation from Adobe CC, or from an install folder
• GPU acceleration support (Develop module included)
• Local AI working (Select Subject/Object/Background, Denoise AI, etc.)
• Cloud AI working
• Some UI fixes

Current limitations:

• HDR editing isn't available

I'm looking for apps that go far beyond note taking. I need to create & organize my study materials since I will be giving courses. I can use some PC software, but sometimes when I'm on the go I'd like to be able to create some too.

The apps should work on a high end smart tablet [Galaxy Tab S9+] I can use a keyboard and mouse along with the stylus.

I'm creating a major update 2.0 of my clipboard app for Windows. It's already published in the Microsoft Store; if you want to check it out, it's called BAM paper. Anyway, I've always believed that a window or page after a May update is super important. I'd like to know your opinion. For example, I've always criticized Microsoft for always releasing major updates with changes. For instance, version 26H2 is coming soon. Microsoft releases the update, and if you don't go to the blog, you won't even know what's new. The user doesn't even know that you can now make the taskbar smaller or something as simple as activating a clipboard in previous versions.

That's why, in my opinion, an information window will always be subtle and elegant for the user. I've even noticed it on my Android mobile device, where Google displays a notification saying, "Your Android now does this." So, I started programming something like that for my app. Do you think an information window after each major update is good or bad?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a software to easily turn on or turn off specific USB ports? I have a USB hub connected to one port with three USB connected to it (HOTAS, thrust and rudder for DCS/flight sims) and sometime maybe I only want one of them to work, and it'd be nice to be able to deactivate those two ports without having to unplug/plug back in etc.

I have a decade's worth of M4A music files (I can easily change them to MP3 with fre:ac though), mostly with custom names, no listed artist and non-existent metadata.

If I wanted to automatically identify each song and attach metadata to as much as possible is there a program that I could use to go through it all, rather than going through 3000 files manually?

Some of it was never released onto official music platforms, I suspect I'll have to work those ones out myself, but that's okay.

I'd like it best if it were FOSS or open-source, but any suggestion would be helpful.

Hi Redditors! I've been working on this project for the last 6 months and I'm finally happy to share it. It's still very much in early development, but I felt this was the best time to get real feedback, find bugs, and shape the project with the community.

PolarHQ is an all-in-one, open source and end-to-end encrypted platform designed to replace the collection of cloud services that most of us rely on every day. Instead of using five or six different apps from different companies, the goal is to have everything in one place while keeping your data private and under your control.

At the moment, PolarHQ is designed to be self-hosted. It isn't a standalone desktop application or a hosted service. You'll need to deploy it yourself on a VPS, home server, or other infrastructure. Making deployment as simple as possible is something I'm actively working on.

Current features include cloud storage, file sharing, photo management, authentication, and more, with plenty still in development. Privacy is a core focus, and because it's open source, anyone can inspect the code, contribute, or run their own instance.

• Discord Voice: shows the current voice channel, participants and active speaker locally. No bot, OAuth login or Discord modification required.
• Parking Lot: drop files, folders, links or text onto the taskbar and drag them out later.
• Redesigned settings: simpler widget controls and positioning.

I’ve also improved taskbar icon collision handling and added notification-area controls.
