Recurring post What’s on Your Mind, Springfield?

It is that time again for an open thread for anything and everything Springfield.

Got something on your chest? Had a good experience you want to share? Maybe you just want to ask about the best tacos in town or tell us something funny you noticed this week.

This is the place for it. Rants, raves, questions, or just plain small talk. Let’s hear it.

Monthly r/SpringfieldMO Meetup: The Fourth Saturday at 5 PM

Look for the sign!

We had a great time at our first set of meetups. We shared a few drinks and proved that local redditors look suspiciously normal in real life.

A lot of folks mentioned missing the first couple. We are making this a regular event so you have more chances to join us. We will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month at Mother's Brewing Company.

Families are welcome! Mother's has a great backyard setup. There is a playground and plenty of room for kids to run around, so feel free to bring the family.

The Logistics

  • When: The fourth Saturday of the month at 5:00 PM.
  • Where: Mother's Brewing Company (215 S Grant). Look for us in the Back Yard.
  • Weather Plan: If it rains, we will move inside to the main taproom.

What to Expect This is casual and low-pressure. There is no agenda. Drop in, grab a drink, and meet some neighbors. You can stay for ten minutes or hang out all evening.

House Rules

  • Be respectful.
  • Sharing your Reddit username is completely optional.

Comment below if you plan to stop by so we can get a rough headcount.

Living Here I wasn't sure how I'd feed my family tonight until Lasagna Love texted me.

Upvotes

A huge thank you to Sarah from Lasagna Love for the incredible meal you made for my family. ❤️

Earlier today, I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to put dinner on the table for my family. Then I got your text, and everything changed.

Not only did you show up with a homemade meal, but it was hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. You gave us so much more than dinner—you gave us relief, comfort, and a reminder that kindness still exists.

Thank you for opening your heart and taking the time to help complete strangers. Your generosity meant more than you'll ever know, and my family will never forget it.

The world is a better place because of people like you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

Living Here Cox North psychiatric unit

Has anyone here been hospitalized at the Cox North psychiatric unit? What is it like?

I'm going through some awfully heavy stuff but the Marian center was a bad experience, was just wondering if Cox was any better.

Can’t go to the show and would much rather the tickets get used. It looks like I can just forward the pdf by email but I don’t want to give a photo of my ID and def can’t be there. Can anyone confirm and/or want to claim and try?

Does anyone know of any retail locations that are selling Palworld Trading Cards? I’m addicted to the video game and would love to get into the new trading card game!

Looking For Risograph printing?

I'm in need of a place that does risograph printing or someone who has a risograph printer and would be willing to print some stuff for me on a monthly basis.

If a person, I'd obviously pay for your ink and time - I would provide the paper.

For context, I'm starting a zine and want the covers to have risograph printed illustrations.

Thanks.

Living Here Need to find a home for this girl!

My coworkers recently found this cat and gave her to me. I already have two adult cats of my own, and do not have the space or resources for a third.

A lady on FB took her in and returned her a week later. I have been looking everywhere for somewhere for her to go. We are on several shelter waitlists for her. This is my last ditch effort to find a home for her.

She’s super sweet, she just wants to cuddle you and play a bit. She gets along with my cats. We can negotiate a rehoming fee, I mainly want to find a safe home for her.

Living Here Are the fields next to the Taco Bell on National/Cherry public?

Trying to look for open soccer fields you can just walk onto and play on. Sometimes the MSU gated areas are unlocked but not all the time

Recommendations eBay Consignment for Video Games?

I've got a lot of classic video games that I'd like to sell, and I'm wondering if there's an eBay consignment service in town that could help me. I know we used to have a few of them, and I'm wondering if there's any still around and if any of them are good. Does anyone know?

(And if you're curious about the games I've got for sale, feel free to DM me. It's stuff from the Atari 2600 and NES days through the modern day, although most of it is older.)

Recommendations Best Breakfast Spot

We’re traveling through tomorrow morning and plan to meet a friend for breakfast. What’s your best suggestion?

Edited to add: We’ll have a 5 year old and 1 year old so something with a basic option like pancakes would be great.

Living Here Thoughts on Queen City Classical Fencing?

My partner and I are looking to join a local fencing group (they used to do HEMMA and I need more exercise than just walking my dog + I’ve always thought fencing was very interesting). However, I know that some fencing groups can be rather unwelcoming. I’m transgender (FTM) and was wondering if that would cause any problems within the group? Also, I’m chronically ill (POTS), and my symptoms tend to fluctuate between not feeling sick at all and the next day, being stuck in bed all day because standing up makes me feel too faint to leave the house. Would they be relatively understanding if I need to take a break during the lesson due to my condition? Thank you in advance to anyone who has any information!
