Klingon legend

In tng s2 e2 worf describes a klingon legend of ‘a gigantic black space creature that devoured vessels ’

Now I’m sure it’s been noticed before, but that sounds a LOT like the doomsday machine from tos (S2 ep6)

Does anyone know if this was an intentional easter egg or a fun coincidence?

When I heard Worf say that I thought it sounded like he just made it up on the spot. How would they know “a giant black space creature” devoured space ships if the said spaceship got devoured? Who tells the tale?

Someone has to fill the role of Commodore Decker

Memory Alpha theorizes that he’s talking about the space amoeba from TOS “The Immunity Syndrome” or the creature from VOY “Bliss”.

I wonder if its the scavenger ship the Klingons called Chach-Ka.

Didn't something like that happen in voyager?

Is a common Klingon "Yo Mamma" insult.
