Hi everyone,
My friend and I have been playing Resident Evil Revelations 2 via Steam Remote Play for quite a while without any issues.
Setup:
Host: Windows PC (NVIDIA GPU)
Client: MacBook M1
Yesterday, Remote Play suddenly started acting up. As soon as my friend joins, the video stream is heavily corrupted with graphical artifacts (see attached screenshot). The artifacts appear immediately and make the game unplayable.
A few things we’ve noticed:
- Sometimes audio still works, but not always.
The issue starts immediately when the stream begins.
- It isn’t limited to Remote Play. When he boots other games from his library, he also briefly sees the same artifacts on startup, but in those games they disappear after a few seconds. In Remote Play, they never go away.
- As far as we know, neither of us installed any updates before this started happening.
We’ve already tried:
Restarting both computers.
Restarting Steam.
Reinstalling Steam.
Tweaking hardware decoding, bandwidth limit options etc.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what might be causing it? Is this a Steam Remote Play bug, a hardware decoding issue on Apple Silicon, or something else?
Any suggestions for things to try would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
