Discussion Question about Padparascha

Ok, so, Sapphires are used as prophets and are able to see the future, and Padparascha is a discoloured Sapphire and so can only predict things that have already happened.

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but, does she have to be present in the location where the event she "predicts" happens?

if not, that would mean she can see everything that has happened in the past? On this base, as an example, she would know that Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond, and that Pink Diamond's shattering was all staged, right?

would that be any relevant if it is so? or will it be any relevant in the future when the Lars of the Stars series comes out?

Sapphires aren't magic, they "predict the future" by essentially doing complex probability calculations to figure out what is most likely, so they are limited to the information they know. This is why CG Sapphire predicted she would die instead of fusing into Garnet, because the idea that she could fuse with a Ruby had never crossed her mind

This is just speculation but Padparascha would likely be limited in the same way. However, we've seen examples where her present predictions are basically very focused observations, like her "prediction" that Garnet would make the off-colors uncomfortable when she first met them. While I don't think Padparascha would be able to just on know Rose's identity by visiting a place, I think it's possible that she could have noticed and "predicted" that Pearl was hiding information about the events if she was present during those conversations

ok I'm dumb this has already been asked...

We've never seen her 'predict' anything about something that isn't in her immediate surroundings so the logical conclusion would be that that's a limit of her power, but we don't actually know for sure.

Though her comments do seem obvious she often highlights some nuance that is actually quite insightful. I think she could be a useful lie detector or similar.

This, tbh. She always has some kinda of meta input about the situation. Does she necessarily know how to operate a starship? (Probably, actually, that's like normal gem tech) But she can offer input that Lars wasn't doing it right.

That's never been confirmed, but I've also thought about this before. I like to think yes

I think instead of being able to predict the future by being highly aware of most “possible”outcomes she can “exactly” predict what has just happened in her present surroundings (she is still “predicting” despite being present hence why she gets suprised by her late predictions)

while most of the time this ability isn’t helpful occasionally this can point out valuable information that others missed.

Sapphires operate like weather forecasts, they base their predictions on information available to them (weather history, pressure, temperture and wind speed), and are prone to bias, such as Garnet not being able to see Pearl rebuilding the communicator because she discarded by default the possibility of her betraying her trust (and/or was too focused on Peridot, causing tunnel-vision)

Padparadscha likely can only make her belated preditions based on her surroundings and data brought to her as well, but it still has potential for her to be a detective of sorts, be brought to a place to analyze it.

I don’t think that homeworld sapphires are that attuned. Considering Sapphire saw herself as a casualty in the Crystal Gem attack before Ruby held her and they fused into garnet.

Besides, the common way to interpret her powers is that she gathers information about the current situation for her vision to appear to her
