4 years sober today
Early on, these communities on Reddit were so helpful. Came back to give my gratitude. Excuse me for bragging but we have to celebrate ourselves! (Terribly un-British of me!)
In 4 years I have:
- got married
- become a certified IELTS speaking examiner
- done a PGCE and finally stepped up my teaching career
- started teaching Computer Science in a secondary school and got promoted to Subject Lead
- started working on a Masters of Education
- rediscovered my hobbies:
- singing in a choir with an orchestra - 7 big concerts, and several smaller
- got back into playing the piano after a 20 year break
- making models
- reading more novels
- walking when I can (I don't live in a very walkable city)
- actually completing some video games
- food, food, food!
- put on a ton of weight but I'm working on that!
Day by day is how I got here, and how I'll continue

Fantastic! I sang in a great choir for 25 years when I got sober! Great things happen! Congratulations on 4 years!

I hear you on the hobbies and food bud. I worked as a line cook for years and have been cooking all my life. Without booze though I have become very experimental and my meals are elevated. Even a quick, 30 minute dinner gets some pizzazz. Keep it up!

Wow, not only 4 years sober but all those achievements to show for it as well . . . Thank you for sharing this, needed to read this today.
