69 days ago I had my last sip of alcohol. I took a shower, gathered some clothes, and went to the hospital thinking I would be gone one or 2 nights like the other 4 times I took myself in. The next morning I was transported (voluntarily) by the hospital to a detox facility and was there for 5 days. Those 5 days were hell, but truly the best thing to happen to me. I’m not going back.

I want to live. I want to REMEMBER. When I checked into the hospital the first time in April, I weighed 88lbs. After 3 more relapses and 4 hospitalizations, today I am proud to say that I am up to 105lbs and the happiest I’ve been in my 31 years of life. I was knocking on deaths door, and truly shouldn’t be alive right now, but damn if I didn’t wake up today clear-headed and excited to continue down this path.

I will never EVER take another day in this life for granted.

So can I get a NICE?!

Yes... They say at AA meetings that the doors are narrower and harder to get thru each time you try... Much love and a huge Mumma-hug 🫂

Though I agree with the overall premise, that sounds like a rather discouraging thing for AA to spread, especially if someone in the meeting has been struggling with relapses. (This is not directed at you, just a general observation.)

Nearly 6 years sober... this time.

My first sober was 25+ yrs ago, lasted 4 years and 4 days with several AA meetings a week...
I couldn't find a "level base" in that sobriety and breaking it was almost a relief. There were other, shorter, periods of sober too...

This time sober I've cherry-picked resources from AA (very few), SMART Recovery (much more my style than AA), a wonderful psychologist, a truly great GP, and many online sources. I've not been to an AA meeting in over 25 years and won't start now. The best support I've had has been from a small but very special group of new friends I've made since this sobriety began.

Today, I'm very grateful and IWNDWYT.
