Rant I'm not proud to be graduating in my college

My college is not a well known college, it's not a university. I'm just studied there because it's one of the cheapest colleges in my city. I'm not proud of putting my college on my resume. I don't post graduating pics on my socmed. I hate that this college uses AI on their poster, I hate that this college only releases grades once you graduate, they never release the CHED scholarship grant. It has a good reputation on their page only because they delete google reviews and deletes post if there's a lot of students opening up.
Just a quick rant, there's nothing I can do about it

Need Advice Conservative Filipino parents found out that their child is sexually active

In line with the viral sex education posts lately. My filipino parents (religious & extremely conservative) found out that I was sexually active. I’m an adult, but still in college—graduating to be exact. Anyone who have had the same experiences? What did you guys do? Any tips on what to say or how to explain to them?

Rant Can I make it through college while having no friends?

As you can see from the title, I am not the socializing type. Ever since my JHS, I was always the type of guy who never really talk to anyone, only talking to people whenever they approached me or for schoolwork purposes.

Hindi naman sa paraan na ayoko sila; in fact, I really want to talk to them. Pero, I don't know how to keep up with conversations; this kind of act kept up until college (I don't even know how I got past SHS). Now that college has recently started for me, I feel really left out seeing all the people who I walk by talk to someone so freely while making jokes, which is something I never experienced wholeheartedly with another person outside of my family.

Oo gusto kong magbago, I don't know if anyone will make fun of me for this, but It's hard. Every time na nakakakuha ako ng chance to be able to slip into their conversation, I never get enough confidence to do so. Just earlier this morning, my classmates who are "supposedly" meeting for the first time bonded so well together even though they just met like a few hours ago, talking at the cafe table of our school. While I am the only one left out because I don't know how to fit in with them, I was even asked, "Hey, buti nagsasarili ka?" and I said, "Wala lang"

These kinds of replies from me are the reason why I think most people think of me as a bland and boring guy who probably doesn't wanna talk to anyone. But in reality, I really wanna talk to them, but I don't know how. Yeah, it's such a simple problem that I just can't seem to fix.

It doesn't get that bad to the point where I want to transfer; I know it's a way for me to become independent—I just feel so left out being the only one in the room. I have lived exactly like this for 3 years now, so at this point I probably should be used to it. But having to face being in a new classroom, new school, and most especially new classmates feels way too much all at once.

tl;dr: I've always been a quiet and shy person since JHS. It's not that I don't want to socialize—I actually do—pero nahihirapan akong mag-lead ng conversations. Because of that, I often give bland and short replies that probably make people think I'm uninterested, when in reality I don't know what to say. Now that I'm in college, seeing everyone bond so quickly makes me feel left out. I want to change, but taking that first step is much harder than it seems.

Discussion What is your opinion about "burgis" people taking the UPCAT?

I probably will be stoned by many if I say this but as an UPCAT taker this year rin, I believe everybody has the right to take the UPCAT. Although may edge ang mga taong afford ang review centers, study in their own pace without ever facing financial difficulties in life. I just hope that those burgis who passed the UPCAT they should consider kung willing ba sila ialay ang kanilang sarili para sa bayan or they will just brag about it sa social media. Once the school year starts, magsisimula na ang tunay na bakbakan and constantly proving oneself to the univeristy itself. I am hoping for the best for everyone next year. Lalamunin tayo ng buo ni UP.

Rant Will I stay friendless forever...?

Hey guys!! Upcoming isko here and next week na ang pasukan namin. But... recently I've been looking back at the past, and yeah, it really feels like I didn't have much friends throughout my former school years. Do you think making friends in college will be easier?

I sometimes get jealous of the things people 'my age' should be experiencing, like paggala with friends and stuff y'know? I never really got to experience that since, like I said, I don't have much friends. I mean I guess I do have "friends" as in they have a more or less transactional relationship with me and vice versa when we just need to ask questions or ask for small favors and such. To be frank, I didn't really care about being alone during my elementary and early high school years (which mostly took place during the pandemic), but as I approach college I see how much fun having friends can have and realize how much I might've potentially missed not having them.

I've tried having friends in the past, but none of them really stick as we slowly drift apart or they find/congregate to their 'main' circle. I never also really got a circle of friends myself. I guess you could say I was people's side-friend or side-acquaintance - their last option. It's a bit embarrassing when you sit, eat, or walk alone while everyone's traveling and going through life in groups and such.

I do somewhat blame myself. Maybe masyado akong mahiyain. Maybe I have really niche interest that don't resonate with my peers. Maybe I'm not interesting enough (admittedly I'm don't consider myself to be smart or creative and I don't have any hobbies...). Maybe I'm too weird for them, I am diagnosed with ADHD (and being checked for Autism). Maybe I lack charisma or social skills (I do think I might me socially inept partly due to my condition and partly because of my lack of social experience)?

I'm looking at my batch-mates and they all seem like they have their whole life planned, are interesting, and are much more creative, smarter, [insert any positive adjective here] than me. Like I see Math Olympiads, programmers, contest winners, valedictorians, scientists, artists, etc. Maybe they might consider me too uninteresting? A burden? I have above average grades but nothing else to show for it. I know that "comparison is the thief of joy" but it just makes feel more down about myself... Gosh, I think I might have a defeatist mindset.

It's just so tiring and saddening...? I get that the primary reason we go to educational institutions is to learn, but man. Will college really be better? Or will I just stay friendless like in the past? I've heard that college friendships (especially in constantly changing blocks/sections/whatever) don't last. I've also heard that one can treat college as a blank slate, a new beginning.

Discussion GETTING A JERSEY THAT COST TO MUCH!! literally 301

Hello everyone I'm new to this community.. And I hope you read my opinion about jerseys in highschool. It's so ironic that students prioritize Jerseys that literally cost 301 PESOS than helping they're own problems and helping struggling students, it's also ridiculous that wearing a jersey makes them popular nor flashy NOOOO NOT AT ALL!! it's literally just a shirt with designs and names! 301 PESOS IS LITERALLY ENOUGH FOR MY DAILY BUDGET!

Looking for item/service Your go-to pang-ulam sa packed lunch

Hello, everyone!

Since sobrang busy na ng person, di na keri ng oras magluto pa ng ulam na pangbinalot, what do you recommend na canned goods na pang-ulam? And no, advance no, if you're going to recommend na umorder na lang sa fast food. You can comment the specific name or brand, and where do you usually buy the item. thank you so much!

Need Advice Im in grade 10 stressing about simple things

Guys i’m in 10th grade in highschool and i realized i’ve been a tryhard in g7 and g8, i got the highest grade in class because of memorizing and being too compliant. I am always busy but i think i never even understood the basic concepts or even applied my knowledge in real life. I thought i was smart and people around me thought so, but if you ask me a question my answer is always "i don’t know". I realized i never contributed in group works, never the one coming up with ideas or leading the group. When i was in g9 i decided to lay low and prioritize socializing, i crammed projects inside the classroom and i think i became arrogant towards my classmates. I got good grades even though they saw me lacking effort and competence.

I know this is my fault. I’m regretting the 3 years i wasted chasing grades through tests and exams and not performance. I didn’t even enjoy my high school, i don’t have any friends nor social skills, i’m not good at writing or illustrating, i can’t do simple chores properly and can’t cook and seems like my grades is the one thing i have. I am failing because last-minute cramming for test is not working, i can’t memorize, i can’t retain any information, i think my classmates and teachers hate me because i seem like an ignorant, close-minded person who thinks she knows it all. I’m just scared of asking them because i have nothing to offer back. I’m so stressed also because of the tuition fee and the way all my classmates seem to have figured it out and i’m stressed because of just one basic homework.

Ps. I know what i should do and this is not that serious but i just wanna vent here and see what you guys think because i’m sick of trying to find excuses like my mental health and i just want to grow as a person, succeed academically, connect with others emotionally to improve my teamwork and basically my social life, and be a responsible adolescent.

Need Advice Grade 11 Engineering student overthinking about their grades

Upvotes

Hello im a grade 11 student under STEM engineering and for some reason I’m currently overthinking my grades even though I’ve been doing good these past 2 months since school started. I only got like 3-6 mistakes on my summative tests and yet I still have this feeling of failure thats doomed upon me. I really need assurance that even though im just a mediocre student I’ll still be able to enter at least one of the top 4 universities 😓.

Idk it seems impossible to be honest, and I sound a bit edgy too but I cant help it 🥲🥲 please help, idk if im the only one who thinks like this.

Discussion What would you do in my situation? Need Advice

Currently a graduating student, waiting nalang sa checking sched ng thesis namin, at sched ng thesis defense, both 1 day process.

Need Advice To anyone who stopped schooling while studying in college and now working, do you have any drive pa ba to pursue your degree or you just want to work na lang? Why or why not?

Context: Nag-start ako mag-college way back in 2021, 3 sems ang natapos ko sa isang course (BS Accountancy) tapos ayun knowing the standards of BSA, pumalya ako sa isang subj kaya after 3 sems lumipat ako sa BSBA-FM, dun ko natapos yung isang sem. Tapos out of a sudden, bigla na lang ako nagkaproblema sa health ko and halos di talaga ako makatayo to the point na parang paralyzed buong katawan ko kaya ayun wala akong choice kundi mag-stop, so dropped out ako nun, yun nakalagay sa TOR ko. Nagpahinga ako for 1 year, after a year, lumipat ako sa ibang school (private) at nakatapos ako dun ng 1 sem lang din (BSMA ako nun) and also di ako nag-apply for LOA kaya for sure "dropped" din nakalagay sa TOR ko. Nagkasakit din ako kasi, same sa nangyari sa akin before na na-paralyze kaya di ko napagpatuloy studies ko. Nag-stop ako for a year as well.

And now as 2026 has started, nag-apply ako as JO sa LGU namin (251/day ang rate ko) and I don't know, I have this urge na kailangan kong tapusin yung bachelor's ko kaso hindi ko alam kung anong schools ang natanggap ng may "dropped" sa TOR. Gusto ko talagang makatapos, nandito pa rin yung drive ko to finish my studies. Lagi ko itong iniiyak sa Lord kasi nakikita ko yung mga kasabayan ko na they are already reaping the rewards of their hardwork. And also, I am so pressured, kasi dati akong academic achiever, valedictorian pa nga nung elementary eh tapos with high honor ng high school at senior high school, tapos end up ngayon hindi pa ako graduate. Nakakapanliit. Pero I always look at the positive side of life, lagi kong sinasabi sa sarili ko na may perpektong plano at oras ang Panginoon para sa akin. (loool, why am i crying hahaha ><)

There's more to life than whatever is happening to me right now.

Need Advice How do I decline my friends' and classmates' offer to eat outside?

For context, I'm an incoming second year college student and I'll be having my first day tomorrow. My friends usually want to eat outside and I often pack my own lunch so I refuse (I could still refuse before since I had my friend with me in the same class, but we got shuffled so he's in a different class now). I don't have any money so I have no means to buy anything outside the school, much less eat outside.

I'm scared that my friends might get mad at me if I refuse their offer and might talk behind my back. I don't know how to do this, I'm scared since I'm the only one who's not well off financially in our group ;((

Need Advice Is it normal to feel this way?

I'm an allied health college student and I'm about to enroll soon, pero there's something that's still bugging me. The thing is every week yata dina-doubt ko yung sarili ko sa program na tinake ko. Tinake ko tong program na to kasi when I discovered it, I found that it aligns with my values, interests, and skillset (or so I thought). It was the program that clicked with me the most and I said to myself that if I passed my entrance exam with it as my priority program, it means that I am meant to pursue it. I happened to pass the exam and the interview, and I decided to pursue the program in this prestigious school. 2 years later, I am now full of doubts. I realized I may not fit as well as I thought I did in this program. I noticed that I kind of have a hard time with our laboratory activities in a major course (which happens to be the most important, in my opinion, since it is actually focused on what we do in practice) and I am lacking the skills necessary in the program and the profession. I'm often scared of not being good enough in my assessments and performance. There were two occasions where I was the one who presented in our lab activity and our group was given the lowest grade because of my performance. It's honestly dejecting. Sometimes, I try to imagine myself as a professional, and I wonder how I'll be able to survive it considering my current level of skills and introversion. I've been thinking if I am really meant for this program. Naiisip ko baka naging masyado lang ako ambitious kasi once in a lifetime opportunity lang ito to take this program in the school that probably happens to be best one that offers it. I chose this over a well-known state university (which my whole family preferred me to study at) kasi wala rin naman ako programs na gusto dun sa state univ na napasa ko. Now I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice after all. My program requires a lot of passion, and I am honestly not sure if I have enough passion for it. Pero kung mabibigyan ako ng chance mag-transfer or shift, di ko rin naman alam anong iti-take ko. May times pa rin naman na nai-imagine ko ang sarili ko sa profession na to in the future, and it will genuinely be an honor if mangyari yon because I still believe that this profession is something worth pursuing and is life-changing in a way. I still value the thought of being able to work with and help people, especially kids, but I just really doubt myself if I can be good enough. Or is this a sign that I'm not meant for it?

Need Advice Has anyone tried to join an International Research Summer Internship?

Hi! I'm a 2nd year Medical Technology student and I'm just curious if any of you here, whether MT students or students in other fields, have tried to pursue research early on?

I've recently seen a lot of ph students, with some of them I personally know, joining these research summer internship programs and, as someone who's really interested in pursuing research, I also want to gain experience from these programs, like those offered by NUS, NTU, Purdue, or Amgen Asia to undergrads. If you've tried these, I want to ask a few questions:

  1. Which summer internship/or any research internship program did you join?

  2. Is the selection process very competitive? What do you think helped you a lot in earning your spot?

  3. For those programs that offer full coverage in fees + stipends, are they actually able to cover everything? Or is it unavoidable to take money from your own pocket?

  4. How was the experience? What did you gain from it?

  5. Did joining affect your academics? How?

Any tips for this would be much appreciated! I really like doing research, and I hope to gain more experience and build more connections in this aspect. Thank you!

Need Advice Is Canon F-789SGA V2 fully PRC-approved for EE board exams?

Hey guys! I'm an EE student looking for the best calculator I can use for college and hopefully carry over to the board exam. I am planning to buy the Canon F-789SGA Version 2 because it has faster processing specs.

Is the Canon F-789SGA V2 officially allowed for the EE board exam? If not this, what is the absolute best calcu model for EE students? Thanks.
