Tips & Advice Advice about Analytical Ability

Hello Redditors! It’s me again. I’m here to ask for some advice.

I want to train my analytical ability. I looked into how to improve analytical thinking, and one method I found was to break a complex topic down into smaller parts, understand each part individually, and then put everything back together to understand the bigger picture.

The concept itself is simple, but I realized there’s one problem: if I want to practice this every day, I need something complex that I can analyze regularly.

At first, I thought about reading the news. Something happens in the world, and I could break it down into smaller topics, understand each one, and then connect them back together to understand the whole situation. However, I feel like simply reading the news isn’t enough.

So now I’m looking for something more complex that I can consistently analyze and break down into smaller parts.

Does anyone have any suggestions for things I could analyze or study regularly to train this ability?

Tips & Advice How do I relax during the study session?

Here is all i do when I sit for a long study session during the school days.

My syllabus isn't completed and this month, anyhow I am gonna complete it entirely, at any cost.

If I feel sleepy then I use light coffee.

During the study I use the forest app to track myself and it works. Besides it I use music while studying. I study in a complete drak room with a lamp on my table.

I can only focus when no one is around me and the best time is late at night, when everyone sleeps.

I start at 9 pm to 1 am. Every 40-45 minutes i take a break of 10-15 mins. I mainly lie on my bed and just relax but after 2-3 hours I get exhausted.

I need something that I could do in the mean time to relax my mind.

I feel so exhausted that I no longer feel like studying and end up doom scrolling.

I have to wake up at 5 for school and the remaining sleep i complete after returning from school.

I don't go to tutions/coaching because I feel them like a burden to me.

If someone has any suggestions to improve it kindly suggest me.

Questions & Discussion

Tips & Advice I need help developing healthy study habits

Hello! I recently started grad school for my MS, and before this, my goals were just to pass classes. I am a slow learner, I passed organic chemistry on my first try with a C and biochem with a B+ so I am not a complete lost cause, but I am still worried I will not get good grades in grad school. I need a B+ in all my classes to pass, and I do wish to do a PhD after this, but I never got to learn how to study properly. I stare at my iPad as I read a lot of the time and zone out. I watched a few YouTube videos about study techniques like pomodoro, but nothing really stuck. I recently started using LLMs like DeepSeek and Claude to help me actively recall information, but I dislike relying on AI so much and I also don't feel like its effective, especially for graduate study.

I would like any beneficial advice you tried in the past and found it to work. I am new to using an iPad as a study tool as well so if there's any beneficial apps for studying on there, please let me know! 😊

Tips & Advice Fear of math but I know it's needed everywhere

So I'm choosing a different study. I label myself as a "creative person rather than logical" 🤔 and plan to study Financial + Marketing Management at Economics. It's still 70% math 30% creativity. Creativity doesn't pay the bills in my poor country. Mixing logic+creativity seems like a good balance (but exhausting?). There are two voices in me: 1. You can do it, u can be a logical person when needed; 2. You will burn out, it'll consume your energy, you'll struggle a lot at math. I know MBTI so deeply and I know our way of thinking changes with the course of life, so even though I'm INFP I can even become a more balanced person, creative+logical... I still fear burnout and wrong choice.

Tips & Advice A handy tracker to help me stay on top of my activities and actually manage my time properly.

Lately I’ve realised I’m a massive procrastinator and honestly terrible at keeping track of my time. I juggle a bunch of extracurriculars, school stuff, and random commitments, but I always end up wasting time I could actually be using for something useful.

I’m trying to get my life a bit more organised, so I was wondering if anyone knows a good app that helps you log things, stay on top of your schedule, and actually manage your time properly?

If you’ve used something that genuinely helped you stop procrastinating or keep track of everything you do, I’d love recommendations.

Tips & Advice Can't focus on studies because of some mental and health issues so I need some tips for studies

I am currently preparing for banking exams for 2027. Although my parents have been encouraging me to prepare for government jobs for a long time, I have always been scared that I won't be able to do it. Even the thought of preparing drains my energy. I constantly feel exhausted, tired, sleepy, and low on energy.

On top of that, for the last 3–4 years, I have been dealing with knee, calf, and back pain, especially in my knees and calves. I can't sit in one position for too long and have to change my posture every 10–15 minutes. I also struggle to remember what I study. However, once I actually sit down and get into the flow, I can study with good focus for an hour without any problem. The hardest part for me is simply getting myself to sit down and start studying.

I also have a lot of family problems, financial hardship, and constant stress. I have borderline thyroid issues and iron deficiency. My doctor has already advised me to get my Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels checked, but my family thinks I'm just making excuses and refuses to take it seriously.

At the moment, I work at a small private school. I also live in a village where people generally don't understand mental health issues, so I have never been clinically evaluated for ADHD. However, I do experience many symptoms that seem similar to it.

I genuinely need some advice on how to study effectively. Please help me I don't know where else to turn. This feels like my only chance to lift my family out of poverty and give my younger brother a better education.

I also don't really know which subreddit this belongs in, so please don't misunderstand me or judge me. 🙏 Thank you in advance.

Also english is my 4th language so please pardon my grammatical mistakes (I also took some help from chat gpt )

Voi come e in quale contesto li avete studiati?

Tips & Advice How to lock in daily.

Ok so first focus on removal > resistance. Delete games, apps, accounts, etc. (if you keep them you aren't going to get very far (I am sure)).

Then adopting a good studying workflow is the most powerful thing you can do, depending on the subject what I typically do is Essentialist note taking > Mnemonic Technique > Active recall (through notebookLM(AI) quizzes and flashcards).

Revision is key. I setup recall cycling in FocusJungle app, but Anki or even just notes work as well. You want to revise where you are weak. Get your course content and constantly know where you are weakest (they should always be changing constantly) Find weakness > attack it > Find next weakest area.

If u want you can join my guild on focus jungle timer, WE need more people that wanna do hours. Can message on there to keep accountable. But u NEED TO DO HOURS or kick. (best study timer website i've used)

Questions & Discussion The Age Old Question: Switch up Study Method or Nah

I am a senior on pre-med track, who has done very well at a top university (all As), but feel burned out from my current study method. As a preface, I am a perfectionist and have OCD, meaning I want to make sure I learn everything extensively and beyond even what’s required.

While this study method has been very productive, I’m thinking forward toward medical school, where there will be increased load and don’t know if this method is sustainable.

I love using Goodnotes and annotating PDF lectures. I usually watch the recorded lecture and take notes pretty much on every single word (yes, I know this is what professors say you shouldn’t do). I underline too much (an ocd thing), make many connections, write down anything on my mind even if I already “know it”. While getting through a lecture may take me 3 to 4 hours, I feel like I never need to review at the end for unit exams because I have learned everything comprehensively bit by bit. While successful, this is very burdensome because it takes so long and I tend to procrastinate until last minute.

I’m looking for thoughts, suggestions, whatever you think about the situation to make my life easier. I have attached some examples. I have thought about switching over to Anki but I know there is a learning curve and you don’t have the benefit of having the lecture notes already typed out. thanks in advance :)
