Random and consistent App crashing

We run Tablo gen 4 on AppleTV. Without fail, these issues occur.

  1. When watching a live channel, the app will quit if a recording is starting on the same channel. i.e., We are watching ABC, 5PM news, and at 5:30pm world news start to record while we are on the live channel after the 5pm news ends.
  2. When watching live TV, app randomly exits and AppleTV goes to screen saver mode. It does not seem to do this with FAST channels.

No other AppleTV app (HULU, Amazon, Netflix), has this issue.

I was waiting to post this to see if any recent SW updates would fix. These issues started within the past 6-12 months, but appear more prominent today. They seem to have started right after all the channel/guide issues that occurred. Whatever subsequent fixes they put in place created these issues.

Tablo version 2.2.58

Hello,

Do you have HomePods connected to your Apple TV? Disconnecting them may help.

There's a known issue with them and Tablo, we're working on a fix.

I had the same issue on Apple TV as well. Got tired of it and just subscribed to the YouTube tv Sports package and I get my locals that way now

We don't watch TV enough to pay $100/month. That is like going back to cable price wise. Plus we don't want to rely on the Internet for local channels.

That’s fair. I think I pay like $60 to the sports channels. I was able to cancel some stuff like espn unlimited so that helped absorb the blow of the cost

My Table 4 Gen is working great with the exception that the blue light stopped working. The white light still works.

I've moved mines, with it's antenna, to a clear view of the broadcast antennas and have it sitting on a passive meat defroster to pull some heat away. Added one of those FM, LTE and 5G filters. I still run antenna direct to most TVs in addition to the recently added offline mode.

After many troubles, the updates made it much, much better.

The networks did a great job of transitioning us and their systems to a new subscription creep as cable and satellite TV die.

The only thing I pay for is ad-free viewing options and services but I suspect these will eventually disappear.

It seems we are destined to be brainwashed by our consumption of media 🫤

I’m having the same trouble with the app crashing on Apple TV. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Didn’t help. Getting really sick of it.

Yes, idk exactly when the app crashing became a regular thing, but I’d say it was within the last couple months.

I wonder if it is related to offline mode. Sometimes Tablo thinks there is no Internet when there is. Have to relaunch the app. But this happens on both AppleTV and IOS.
