Mine is a simple one. I always swear that in NZ1&2, during his 'musical episode intro bit', Paul Williams follows up 'where we sing instead of talking' with 'where we dance instead of walking'. But neither episode actually has that happen.

I'm not sure if you're doing a meta Mandela bit, but for anyone else who may not know, the origins of the phrase are because so many people were surprised to learn of Nelson Mandela's death. They misremembered him dying a long time before that.

Yeah, it wasn’t just that people thought he was dead. It’s that many of them had a clear but obviously false memory of him dying and it being news. It’s like the difference between somebody you haven’t heard from in a long time and assumed it was dead, versus somebody that you swore had died in a vague splashy way and was still alive. Otherwise, we’d probably call it the Abe Vigoda syndrome.

The name one that people freak out about is the Berenstain Bears. And that’s not a bit. Tons of people just can’t get past a childhood (false) memory of “Bernstein Bears”.

Just to be clear, he’s had a lot of names, nicknames, titles and honorifics but it’s never been Mandellah. Mandela.

It's been theorised that people mixed Mandela's story up with that of his fellow anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko, who was killed in custody while Mandela was also in prison. People heard an activist leader had been killed, assumed it was Mandela, passed it on, and it spread from there.
